This week we have to design an eyeglass /sunglass. The frame fabricates from Laser cutter, and the templates from 3D printing.
I get inspired from this image in google search.
El Malky ML149 CO2 Laser Cutter
Used it to cut the eyeglasses frame.
Used it to print the eyeglasses' templates
For preparing the dxf file for the laser cutting machine
For slicing the 3D model
AutoCad Software is used for sketching & designing
PLA+ is a PLA-based 3D printing filament with enhanced physical properties. The increased strength and toughness make it an excellent choice for a variety of printing applications.
PLA+ is made from starch from raw materials obtained from renewable plant resources.
Better toughnessCompared to regular PLA, eSUN PLA+ has better physical properties. The increased toughness makes it less susceptible to breakage.
The design will be engraved on it.
Screws & nuts are used for assembling the parts of my design
First of all I created a square with width 55mm for lens out frame, then I used fillet in the two down sides to make it curved.
Then I used the offset to create the lenses, then created a square with width 9mm for the distant between lenses and create a circle in the right hand side of the frame with diameter 3mm .
Then I added a straight line beside the design, then I mirrored the whole design.
Then used the straight line to make the decorate parts in the upside of the glass.
Then used the Test feature to write "Happy Birthday.
Then I trimmed all the parts that need to trim.
After I extruded the model ,I used the "fillet "feature to fillet all glass edges.
I used the straight line + spline to draw the templates .
Then I created a square then create a circle inside the square with 3.5mm.
I used mirror function to create the other side of template.
I used fillet after I extruded it for all template edges.
After extruded the model I changed the appearance to "Plastic (Polyimide)" and fillet all edges
LaserWork app
I imported the eyeglasses' model in LaserWork
I used in the cut parts :Speed 30 ,Max and Mini Power 50.
In Scan parts : Speed 250, Max and Mini Power 15.
In the cut speed parts : Speed 100, Max and Min Power 20
I opened the stl file in Cura program.
I changed the orientation 90 degree .
I didn't add Support as it doesn't need support.
The model would take 24 mins.
The infill was 20 ,Layer Hight DRAFT 0.2 ,Support 0, Speed 60, Top layer 0.8 , Build plate: None.
Printing temperature :215, Bed:60 ,Speed 60.
The grams :4g
I sliced the model ,then saved it as g-code.
First, I turned on the 3D printer , chose PLA e-sun as the material used and preheated it. Second, I send my file to the SD card and inserted in the machine. Third, I unloaded the filament to change the color and loaded a turquoise one after cutting its edge. Forth, I waited till the machine get red of the previous color and cleared the color of the new filament. Fifth, I started printing from the SD card and chose my own file. The machine started heating the building bed and started the 3D building process.
I send the file to my Flash USB and asked the Lab Specialist about the best speed and power for this machine. He advices me to make between the words "Happy Birthday " cut speed . Second, I turned on the Laser Cutter Machine and adjust its nozzle with focus point. Third, I downloaded my file which appeared on the machine screen. I clicked on Origin to decide the starting point, then I chose box to check the workspace on the sheet. Finally, I selected Start button .
When I used SPLINE to design my model, some parts of my lines were missing when I added the 2.5 model in LaserWork
I solved by creating a new eyeglass totally defines.
Also /I could solve it by using this extension:
https://apps.autodesk.com/FUSION/en/Detail/Index?id=4611814297957846949&appLang=en&os=Win64
I asked Esraa my instructor and she advise me with this.
I will totally define my model.
