This week we have to design a pen/pensil holder and i add a mobile holder because its so usuful Also. the most parts was made of wood so fabricates from Laser cutter, and the bracker from 3D printing.
I get inspired from the totorial on our portal and from the model of my colleagues on slack
This is the the model after the assembly all components. first of all i started with the base to select the places of all slots and then i have 3 sides with the same shape and then one back the same sketch for the front and after then i designed the top plate for pens it consists of holes with diameter 1 cm
I decided to take these dimensions depends of my pens and my cards i want to save which is applicable and agree with the user needs
with the next photos will describe all dimensions fully defined
after sketching the features are extrude with 3mm the thickness of the wood and extrude cut for the slots
this is the base with logical dimension for my pencils and cards i chose 160*80 and added 6 mm width for every slot (3mm for the thickiness of wood
the back plate sketch has the same length as the base and with 80 mm height with t slots and x slots 3 mm width
here is sketched the side plate with t slots and x slots for more stable fixation
the t slot dimension depends on the M6 bolt and the 3mm nut
Here i sketched the top plate and showed the holes for pencils 10 mm diameter with rectangle pattern i copoied the hole for down and left sides
Here shows the joints which i select face or line to assemble with other components from assemple menu
here i selected the wood matireal (oak ) from Appearance table i pressed A on the keyboard
imported all pencil holder parts in RDWorks
I used in the cut parts :Speed 30 ,Max and Mini Power 55.
i put all the components at the right corner to save the losses of the material
LASRE CUT process
i imported the file in the laser work program, adjusted just beside the origin.
I modified the design based on the power and speed ..
where:
For cutting: speed: 30 mm/sec Power: 55%
i download the file at the machine, set the focus and test the frame work for the machine and give it the order to work
the most problem for me was to add the new component under another component not the parent which make alot of problems and then i realized that and then it was easy
the next challenge was the slots after cutting wasn't open enough with mm or micrometers maybe its the machine quality and solve it by using tool called sanding file or nail file
i improved my skills in design ,I'm more better and faster i understand now how to make my sketch fully defined and use features and also the way of assembly bz brackets or T slots or cross slots
working with abdelrhman was so cool and he taught me how to handle the design because i didnt saw the totrial at that time he taught me frindl
