For this week's assignment searching for a design model as dxf file to fabricate it on the laser cutting machine and a 3d model fabricating on 3d printer
I chose to print a card holder and saver because I am interested in learning languages so every new word i learn i will write it in a card and put it in this cards saver and i got inspiration for alot of models from Thingiverse site https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5748059
I also chose the other model was a key chain as i want l for my keys in a fish shape and wanted to make it by myself
i got my inspiration from 3axis site
https://3axis.co/laser-cut-animal-wooden-keyrings-cdr-file/eo202n47/
cura for slicing the card saver for 3d printing and laser work for laser cut or scanning the key chain
i downloaded it from thingverse.com site you can find many 3d printed models and after that i used cora to set values for the printing process and to monitor the sliced process.. i changed the scale but in just z dimension and fixed the y.x axis that allowed me to save material and time .. i don't need any supports because this model is straight simple without any curved faces and i think this is the maximum modification i can do to save the material and time with the good quality
This is the laser cut model it's wood medal for keys as fish shape.. the file wasnt as DXF but i converted it by converter cloud online and then downloaded it from 3axis.com site ..there you can find many cad models .. and after downloading it i opened RD program to set values for the cut and scan process as shown in the link.
I downloaded the file from 3axis website, and I imported it to RD program. Then, I scaled it to make it smaller.
I used in the cut parts :Speed 30 ,Max and Mini Power 60.
In Scan parts : Speed200, Max and Mini Power 15.
.
I opened the stl file in Cura program.
I changed the orientation 90 degree .
I didn't add Support as it doesn't need support.
i changed the scale in z direction only to reduce material and time
is time 1 hour 20 mins
I sliced the model ,then saved it as g-code.
The infill was 20 ,Layer Hight DRAFT 0.3 ,Support 0, Speed 60, Top layer 0.8 ,
Printing temperature :215, Bed:60 ,Speed 60.
The grams : 27g
For 3D Printing the process was as follows:
first, i choosed the color then unload the old loaded PLA and load the new one
then checked on the ultracura software if all the design bottom touching the pad or I need to put supports
Set the temperature to 215
put the file on the microcard
chose the file on the machine and let's go
Implementation process for laser cutter.
1- Key chain
put the rld file in a flash memory and download it in the machine(In laser work).
Turn on the machine and set the origin of the cutting.
from File >> upload the file>> see the estimated time >> see cutting track
Press enter to start cutting
Under supervision of the instructor we uploaded the file on the machine after checking the required modifications such as speed an power.
2-Using machine
First step we need to check from the hight by using a focus as a standard.
Second check is the origin of the plywood material.
As long as we change any parameters we should reset teh origin again.
Finally close the transparent safety cover and press start the process
3d printing
the challenges were that i was alittle bit afraid to use these machines especially the laser cutting machine because of the fire and smoke ,, i was also afraide to make mistakes and cant use the machines but the speciallest there was so friendly and helped me alot
for key chain .. the file wasnt as DXF but i converted it by converter cloud online and then downloaded it from 3axis.com site

my final project ( Samka ) and (new words saver )
ofcourse its the first time to print 3d and to make laser cut this experience will help me alot in the graduation project because
i will use the same machines for fabricating my project so uploading mz desine to the machine wont be a problem for me
I learned how to use the machines by myself. Coolest thing is the specialists in the lab are very helpful and learned me how to use the machines and to do all the steps by myself.
