Design an eyeglass.
The frame fabricates using Laser cutter, and the arms using 3D printer.
I got inspired from google images.
El Malky ML1390 CO2 laser cutter
MDF laser cuttter 3mm
fusion 360
Prusa I3 MK2
PLA
fusion 360
The glasses consists of two main parts:
A- Arm :
1- It was designed so that it can be fabricated using 3d printer.
2- I created one rectangle and I made double arcs
3- I designed circle with 3.3mm then extrude the whole design
4- I set the dimensions and made it as fully defined
B- Glasses frame:
1- It was designed so that it can be fabricated using laser cut machine
2- I created rectangle ,then I used fillet to make it curved.
3- I created circle with 3 mm D ,trim unneeded parts .then .mirror the design on mirror line
Glass Arm - fillet 3d features
Fully defined arm sketch - calibrated on real glasses - suitable for the application
3D model with Plastic appearance
2.5D frame - Extruded
Full defined appearance
The glasses consists of two main parts:
A- Arm :
1- Export file from fusion as stl
2- open the file using Ultimaker Cura
3- Make slicing
4- use prim
5- adjust setting : 20% fill - no support
Note : tep.215 , 7gm, time 42min
6- Save as .gcode
7- copy file to machine
B- Glasses frame:
1- Export file from fusion as dxf
2- open the file using laser work V6
3- Save as rdl
4- Adjust settings; Speed 220m/s , power = 55
5- Copy file to the machine
M3 Screw for connecting the arm to the frame
I was not able to make the sketch as full defined and I asked "Nada" before the lab and Nada guided me through the solution. She advised that I had to set the dimension reference to a certain point.
Final design
The use of the BRIM in 3D printer to enhance the printing process.
Driver/Navigator team work was amazing experience and helped me to acquire the skills easily and shorten the learning process.
