This week my assignment idea is to design and fabricate a Pen & Pencil Holder by using Fusion 360 & then using 3D printing

So I tried to search for a design from Google browser

Design/Preparation Process

Explain the design and/or preparation process of your assignment. How did you use the tool or software to design and/or prepare your assignment before fabrication/implementation?

Extrude & Shell with Split

First of all, I decided to make a sketch with a polygon shape

I extrude my shape first then shell it from the top
I make a split body by dividing the main body into 3 bodies
I use the sketch to draw 2 parallel lines
I use a circular pattern to create 10 of them around the shape
I use appearance to color the shape
I combine all the bodies in one body to export it as f3d file
I use Ultimaker Cura program to check profile, infill & slice
I use profile 0.4 / Infill 20% / slice 1Hour & 29 mins

Development/Implementation Process

Explain the development/implementation process of your assignment. How did you use the machine/tool to manufacture or implement the design of your assignment?

I went to Fab Lab Egypt with my design & put it on the SD card of the machine with parameters X:40 mm Y:40 mm Z:64 mm
I power on the 3d printing machine to be ready
I select my file from the menu bottom of the machine & get started
I am standing beside the machine while it finishes the beginning layers to be okay
Using PLA with Purple Color
My design took about 1 hour& 29 mins & 16 grams

I learned how to delete supportive lines before fabrication of laser cut by lap specialist (Mona).

I learned that we must select a profile to be maximum of 0.3 to overcome any damages in Ultimaker Cura Software.

I learned that when we work as teamwork in an assignment or in Hands-on Minds-on, we make creative things with a great idea.

Michael & Mohamed Tarek helps us in a zoom meeting for any helps before the deadline of the evaluation date.

Overcoming Challenges

When you got stuck, what/who did you turn to? At what point did you have to pause to research or learn more before moving on? What are some mistakes, pitfalls, or challenges that others can avoid if they were doing this assignment?

Before Edit

I had 2 problems:

The first one was the size of my Pencil Holder & the slicing, Ibrahim & Michael helps me to change the size & change the profile to be in the specific time & grams

The second problem after fabrication, I couldn't move the supportive from my Pencil holder but yesterday in the session Amani told me that there is a tool i can use it to remove all extra parts without damage

The Coolest thing that I have learned is that I can upload any picture and Canvas it on my model
