Tell us about your assignment's idea for this week. Why do you care about this idea? What inspired you? (Please include images or links to sources of inspiration)
I wanted to make a simple model which cannot exceed the 1hr and 30 min when it is fabricated, so I decided to make that pen holder like a frame reduce the gm and the time taken to make it
I searched on google to get some ideas and I found this idea to make a frame and also can get the things like the eraser from the bottom easy
first, I choose the base and top measurements to fit as many pens as I can and also doesn't take much time I made it 6*6 cm
I started to join the line like cross lines to get the cool shape not a simple cuboid
I used loft to join the bottom and top and started to take the lines in rails then i get that shape
Then I started to make the frame I wanted by choosing fillet and select the 4 edged lines
I used to shell to empty this shape
I wanted to mark the bottom and the top so I marked the selected construction plan which is 5cm offset from the bottom and top using (construct)
I used a (split body from modify )to split the top and bottom parts
to make the frame as one part, first choose to make each face as one body by ( loft) and make this step for the 4 faces
I named each face
By combine, I choose the body and the 4 profiles to cut it
I wanted to make the bottom and top and the frame as one part
I choose to combine and select these 3 parts and from operation, I choose to join
I wanted to make a pattern on those 4 sides by mesh but I didn't know how to do it so I try this one
I choose to delete 2 sides from the shape and make the other two sides as I support the shape
This shape made it easy to put and take the eraser and anything from the bottom
to the cheek if My design specify the conditions of gm and the time but it exceeds the 90 min
To reduce the time and weight
I started slicing the shape on fusion by making construct plans in different places and choosing ( split body from modify)
I choose to make 2 rings in the middle part to reduce the time and frames to support the shape
This shape made it easy to put and take the eraser and anything from the bottom
1st I exported the file as STL file
2nd prepared the design:
I opened it on Ultimaker Cura software to prepare my design, I scaled the design so to print it at the required time& gm
I set up the settings as we learned in week 0
3rd Settings: 0.20mm Normal _ Filament: Generic PLA _ Printer: Prusa i3 MK2S _ Infill: 15% _ support: touching build plate _ Adhesion: yes
4th preview: to make sure the printing doesn't exceed 90 min and to know the weight
5th preview: I exported the G code file & named it (pens holder- 13g - white - 1hr and 20 min -0.2mm.gcode )
1- I transfer my G-code to the SD card and put it into the machine.
2- I cleaned the 3D printer using alcohol.
3- I turned on the 3d printer.
4- I wanted to change the filament to a white one:
I unloaded the filament then, we set the filament and go load the filament from the menu,
5- I cut off the extra part of the PLA.
6-Then choose my G-code file.
7- After it becomes pre-heated I waited to make sure that the first layer is good
Note the model doesn't need support as the angle of inclination isn't large and also the distance of the inclined bridge is small and the finishing was good
I wanted to make an origami pattern on the 4 sides of the project but the sides were inclined to make shapes and use cut
I searched on Youtube to make this pattern and I found this tutorial pattern
I found it difficult to make each face as a body but I tried different things on fusion and found that I can make it by loft
I found that my final model exceeded the time so
To reduce the time and weight, I started slicing the shape on fusion by making construct plans in different places and choosing ( split body from modify)
This assignment helped me get familiar with fusion and try different tools to know what will work,
I understood the loft tool and how to make a frame for the shape
this assignment helped me to find more plans to satisfy my conditions and reduce the time and gm for the final project
The coolest thing was understanding that each tool in fusion can make different things and by trying I can find the tool suitable for my project
