This week we'll design a simple phone holder, so I searched about phone holder laser cut and found this simple design to fabricate.
I decided to engrave a photo From my favorite anime (One Piece ) I used a Straw hat flag and Luffy to print on my phone holder.
We use Fusion 360 software to design the model of phone holder and export it as dxf files.
We Use LaserCAD to set the parameters to cut and engrave the design and send it to laser cut.
Morn MT3050D CO2 Machine.
plywood 3mm material.
Open fusion 360
Make a new sketch in XZ plane
for the back draw rectangle 100*70mm and fillet the corners R10.
For the other part draw rectangle 50*70mm and fillet the corners R5, and draw T-slot in the end-center of this part.
2. open inkscape, import the image you want in your holder
3. from path menu, choose trace bitmap
4. From the side bar choose Edge detection, then apply.
5. Delete the photo, and export to .SVG file
6. Do the same steps from 2 to 5 to other photo
7. Back to fusion 360, from insert menu, insert SVG
8. insert the SVG file you want, zoom out to find them and orient the photo to the place you want.
9. Do the same for other photo, and finish sketch
10. Extrude the Drawing 3mm.
11. Assemble parts together
11. Export the Sketch to DXF file.
12. Open LaserCAD
13. Import the DXF file
14. Prepare the file to print by fixing the orientation on board and deleting the construction line, selecting what engrave and set the setting then send to laser cut machine.
laser cut setting
set the parameters for cutting speed 100 power 70, and for engraving is speed 300 power 50.
open the machine, put plywood sheet on it, close machine and start.
after cut wait until the smoke come out and open the door take your design.
After cutting assemble the parts together using screws and nuts in T-slot
The final product
I don't know how to put the images on my design so I searched on YouTube and found a video explaining how to convert images to SVG files to import into my design using Inkscape.
Lab specialist told me the design is too short and it looks better if the back of the phone holder is taller.
I get more familiar with design in fusion 360, and that helps me to fabricate my final project.
I can put images on my design to look cooler.
