Pen Holder
It is a pen holder which looks like a castle. It is good way to organize the pens & pencils on my desk. I was inspired by this image on Google.

I divided my design into 4 parts:
base
top
gate
bricks texture
I figured out the measurements of the base part to be suitable for a pen holder according to the average height of the pens & pencils. (100mm X 30mm) I draw it on the right side and used the Revolve technique.
On the Front side, I designed the gate which was mainly a rectangle with an Arc at the top. I added to small rectangles with a small attached tringle to get the the shape of the old gates. Then, I used Mirror to duplicate theses shapes. Finally, I finished the sketch and extruded all the parts.
I created a construction plane on the top part of the base. Then I draw a circle and used the offset to create a larger one and draw 2 line between then to start creating the 1st part of the top. I finished the sketch and extruded it and repeated it using the Circular Pattern.
After that step, I used Shell to make the tower empty from inside (5mm).
To add texture to the castle design. I sketched some rectangles as bricks next to each others 3mm X 7mm with 1mm space between the bricks. I repeated them using Rectangle Pattern. Then, I finished the sketch & extruded them as cut into the base of the castle in order to minimize the weight of the pen holder. Finally, I extruded it again from the other side to get the same effect.
I changed the appearance according to the material (plastic). I choose Acetal Resin White.
I clicked at the name of my design to save it as stl file on my device. Secondly, I open the file in Cura and started slicing it. It took 2 hours & half and the weight was grams. That's why I had to scale it to make it smaller and slice it again. Its weight was 18 grams and the duration of printing is 1 hour . I checked the 3d model from all side to identify the parts that needs support, but it looks great and no need for support. I adjust the setting of the slicing and sliced it again. ( No support - No Adhesion - Infill 20% - Layer height 0.3mm). Finally I save the file on the SD card with the name of the 3d model, colour of the filament , weight and height.
I turned on the 3D printer , chose pla as the material used and preheated it.
Second, I send my file to the SD card and inserted in the machine.
Third, I unloaded the filament to change the color and loaded a white one after cutting its edge.
Forth, I waited till the machine get red of the previous color and cleared the color of the new filament.
Fifth, I started printing from the SD card and chose my own file. The machine started heating the building bed and started the 3D building process. I was amazed at the final result.

While extruding the bricks, some bodies were created and get me confused, but with the help of my instructor I identified the main bodies in my design to combine them and deleted all the unneeded ones.
To identify the main parts of my design and avoid created unneeded ones as they affect the final result. I could brainstorm my ideas in another project.
I made a 3d pen holder model myself and I am familiar now with the 3d printer more. That's increased my self-confidence.
