we had to design a model to fabricate it on the 3d printer. it is a pen holder
this is the model I chose to make. it is very easy to design. I chose this model because it is simple and has a unique shape which attracted me.
I used fusion360 software to design for fabrication
for the last part :
the software used is ultimaker cura
the machine used is prusa i3 Mk3/MK3s
the material used is grey PLA filament
i used fusion 360 to make a circle of diameter 65
then i made an offset plane of 35 mm high
then i made a hexagon and another hexagon but different in position and in different planes above each other by 35mm
i added a circle in another offset plane.
then used the loft function
the loft
I made a 3mm fillet in mostly all the sides .
then I used the shell function to make it as a hollow.
shelling
after fillets
now, that is the final design after coloring some sides.
after slicing using this features :
layer height 0.2
infill 10
scale 60%
time to fabricate 1 hour 22 min
17 grams
for the 3d printing part :
first I sent the gcode to the memory card then inserted the memory card to the printer and chose the file then the process began
it started to heat till 215 degree then the machine tested if there anything unusual in the pad then started to fabricate the figure
as shown in the figures, the file was succesfully fabricated and made its desired purpose (holding a mobile)
one problem I faced was scaling down the design to fit in the required time. it made it too short to hold pens or to big to fit in the time
after some attempts i was able to do it
the first parameters was
it was 6 hours 27 minutes so i scaled it down many times till I finally chose to scale down for 60% of the original parameters and then the problem was fixed
getting to know how to design 3D designs will surely help me in my final project
