3d printing (pen holder)
The design impressed me and I tried to design like it, but I added some extra holes and reduced its scale
I used fusion360 software to make the design and Cura software to control the weight of the design and the time required to print by selecting the suitable values of many variables and to convert the design file (.stl) into a (.gcode) file that the machine can read
and I used a 3d printer machine to print my design using ( PLA material )
fusion360 software logo
the software that make me can make my own design
I used fusion360 to make the design
and cura software to edit on body weight and time of printing and export g-code file
2d sketch.. (9steps)
1. draw half of the eclipse as shown and these two lines with a
length of 150 mm
2. draw a rectangle as shown with dimensions 100*10 mm and
perpendicular to the previous track
3. use a sweep feature to make the body's basic shape as shown
4. then make an offset plane on the upper rectangle
5. add a sketch on this plane and draw a circle in the middle
6. use the circular pattern feature to make this form
7. then use the rectangular pattern to make this full form
8. use extrude cut feature to make the shape has holes but don't cut the full lower plane, stop cutting at the middle of thickness of the lower plane
9. export stl files of the design
3d preparation.. (7 steps)
1. open STL files using Cura software
2. edit the scale and make it 40%
3. Flip the body and make it as shown to reduce the supports
4. make layer height 0.4 mm and infill 20%
5. accept the supports and adhesion and click slice
6. the difference between we accept adhesion and we don't accept is 1 gram and 4 min so I accept adhesion and total time and weight are 80min and 22gm
7. after finishing the previous steps export the g-code file by pressing on save to disk
when I import the STL file to cura software and slice it, I was surprised by the printing time and weight .. it was 159 grams and 9 hours and 44 mins
so I changed the scale to 40% and slice it but there was the same problem with the printing time was 2 hours and 12 mins and the weight was 34 grams
so I changed the layer height to 0.3 and the infill to 10% and flipped it to another face to reduce the support and the time (1h and 33m) and weight (20g) were great for me
