Inspiration Image
Pen and Pencil holder + mobile holder.
I wanted to make a pen and pencil holder but with an additional feature so I made some research on google, and I saw this image.
This is a pen and pencil holder and at the same time could be used as a mobile holder, I thought about it at first if it could be applicable as it wont be comfortable for users to use a mobile holder with pen and pencils behind it.
Then I realized it will be applicable for a certain situation which is when you're working on your desk and you want to hold your phone on something you can then use this product.
For other situations that require holding your phone for long times, it wont be applicable as much.

I used Fusion 360
It was a very good software to have full control on the design.
I got used to it more and knew more tools in it.

This design is made of 2 parts, the red and white parts
I used the sweep tool to make the red part, then cut a small part to make the mobile more stable
The white part, is just a rectangle that is extruded to the same height of the holder, then I used the loft tool to joint it with a 6 sided polygon shape above it.
Then I used the fillet tool to smoothen all the edges to prevent the sharpness of the edges from harming anyone.
I exported the design in the stl form, then I opened Cura program to slice the 3d design into layers and adjust the time and mass to be 30g and 130 mins.
I used layer height o.4mm and infill 0.15 to reduce the printing time as it was too long
Then I exported the file to .gcode extension to be understood by the 3d printers.

I had a copied the file .gcode to a memory card that I inserted into the 3d printer, then I chose the file from the machine then adjust the temperature, then the machine started working and building my design layer by layer.

The design was okay but the scaling of it is too small when it was printed to be used as a mobile holder.
Also when I tried putting pens in it, it worked but they were tilted a lot.

I had some problems dealing with the programs with certain tools, the midweek sessions helped a lot and I also saw some of my team mates have the same issues as me.
Also the physical session at the lab was helpful as I asked about other problems and knew other tools in the program.
some problems I solved by returning back to seeing the tutorials videos.

It's the first time to design a 3d part in fusion, it's going to help with my final project as I tend to use may 3d parts in it.

The coolest thing was designing 3d parts and joining them to make the final product for the first time.
It was very cool, helpful and joying to design in 3d space.
