Cardboard prototype
Mobile Holder
The Idea is to make a mobile holder with poly wood using laser cutting machine.
I tried to make the same design of the previous prototype I made using cardboard. It met the criteria of 2 or more parts and I already had the idea of how I wanted to make the parts in fusion 360 so I did it.
Also It looked pretty cool and I will be using it personally at home.
I used Fusion 360
It was a good program to assemble the parts in 3d and see if the final design would work or not before using laser cutting machine and that reduced wasting time and material.
Semi-final product in 3d
every part
I used fusion 360 to make 4 parts that will be made on laser cutter machine
All the parts are just simple sketches (lines joined together) then I extruded these sketches to 3 mm which is the height of the poly wood.
The first part is the base which will hold all the holder and has space for the back part and middle part to be inserted in it.
The back part is the supporter of the middle part.
The middle part will be tilted a little as the mobile will lay on it, and will lay on the back part.
The final part is a small part, it will be putted on the base to prevent the phone from slipping.
Unfortunately that day I forgot my board so I used scraps.
I used the poly wood with 3mm thickness
I divided the file into 3 separate files and used the laser cutter 3 times once for each file, so that the design fit the scrapes.
I downloaded the file into the lab pc, then chose them on the laser cutter machine. I chose the same origin in all parts.

Yes I asked my friend in the diploma and the lab specialist on her opinion.
The same feedback I got was that the middle part was too long that it didn't fil on the back part as it should, also the final product was too big to be a mobile holder, it could be half it's size and still work fine.
We could used this size for tablets also.
I could've done some simple geometry calculations to prevent the size and middle part problems.
The design was very simple, and I got used to fusion at that point so this phase was easy.
However when I was using the laser cutting machine at the lab, I wasn't used to it much so I asked help from the lab specialist to help me adjust the origin at the first part and choosing the files.

It's the first time for me to deal with a 360 program so I had a lot of fun, it's going to help a lot in my final project because I am tending to use laser cutting and 3d printing both in the project. So it's going to help a lot with the laser cutting and help seeing the final product in 3d before implementing on machines.
