I used Ultimaker Cura
with the 3d printer Prusa i3 mk3
The material is PLA
I used laser works
The material is plywood (3mm)
Prusa i3 mk3
I chose thor's hummer model from Thingiverse and i prepared the model for printing on Ultimaker Cura and I saved the file as G code to be ready to be printed.
i used scaling in cura to adjust the size of the hummer
i checked the support and made it for only the parts that touch the plade also added adhesion
i made the infill 20% and the profiles 0.2
I entered the SD card into the printer and I adjusted its setting to start printing
the model took about 75 minutes to be printed
I uploaded the file to a software called laser cad to prepare the designs for cutting and program the colors to cut or engrave or speed cut
After I finished the models I showed them to the instructors and they helped me
like when there was an order I needed to program a color in lazerworks and my instructor helped me to program it , also they helped me on how to use the printer
Also my team when we were sharing our models we were negotiating to help each other
I turned to the instructor to help me when i faced problem during printing
when the printing process started the adhesion didn't go well so the instructor told me to restart the process again
so I must focus very well at the beginning of the printing process because any mistake can ruin the whole model
learning how to use 3D printer or lazer cutting machine is the very important for the final project that the will build its shape it can't be a physical project without them
so they are the tools that will bring the design to the real world
3D printing is the coolest thing I have learned this week cause I wanted to learn how to print my models and i was fascinated
about a model being built layer by layer in front of my eyes
I tried to give the mode some charm so i colored it with silver doko pen and coverd the hand with old leather
I colored it with marker and doko pens
