Future Aspiration

Hembadoon feels strongly that despite her current situation, her dream of becoming a doctor is achievable. She aspires to become a Doctor who will one day own her own hospital where free treatment will be offered to the less privileged in her community.


Life Before Crisis

Before the attack, Hembadoon (not her real name) said she lived a comfortable, peaceful and happy life with her father and mother. She attended the primary school in her local government. Her family owned a large farm and land where proceeds from selling farm products were used to pay her fees and sustain the home.


Life After Crisis in IDP Camp

The family did not only lose their mother in the crisis but also their home and farmland. Their community became unsafe so they fled their homes to the IDP camp for safety. Since then, life has been difficult for them as they have no source of livelihood nor resources for Hembadoon to further her education. They rely on donations on camp for daily survival.


Future Aspiration

Like this flower, Torkwase envisions a beautiful and colourful life ahead. A life filled with brightness and the actualisation of her dreams and desires.

Life Before Crisis

Torkwase had dreams and aspirations before her community was attacked. She was going to school so she could achieve her dreams. It was a beautiful experience for her despite how uncomfortable the school environment was.

Life After Crisis in IDP Camp

Torkwase's life in camp is unpleasant and uncomfortable. She is exposed to dangerous conditions which is hampering the actualisation of her dreams and desires.

Future Aspiration


Laura wants to be a nurse in the future. She doesn't want people to suffer and die from ill health as a result of poor health care as is their situation in the camp .

Life Before Crisis

Laura was a happy girl while living in her community. She didn't have the best things of life, however she had a peaceful life and was contented with what life had offered her.

Life After Crisis in IDP Camp

Laura says that the camp is not safe and secure, particularly for women and girls which is symbolized by the red colour.

Future Aspiration

Larita's hope is to become a medical doctor so she can save lives and improve the living condition of herself and her family. She wishes to learn tailoring through which she can get money to sponsor her education.

Life Before Crisis

Larita's homeland was safe and secure. She had the freedom to engage in farming activities.

Life After Crisis in IDP Camp

Larita narrated how idle they have become in the camp because they don't have work to do. An idle mind id the Devil's workshop, she doesn't want to engage in any evil or negative practice.

Future Aspiration

Lami aspires to become a medical doctor in the future. She wants to fight for and protect the rights of the vulnerable people in society.

Life Before Crisis

Lami had access to education in her little community before they were attacked. She was making progress in her studies. She wanted to get empowerment through education and contribute to the advancement of her community.

Life After Crisis in IDP Camp

Lami is exposed to harsh environmental conditions in the camp. That has made life difficult for her. However, good spirited individuals and organisations are working to make life more comfortable for them as depicted by the red cross. She is grateful for their efforts.

Future Aspiration

Khadijat loves nature. She hopes she can be reintegrated back to her ancestral home where she would rebuild and develop her environment using natural elements.

Life Before Crisis

Khadijat loved going to school. It was safe and secure for her. She had hoped that she would get her family out of poverty.

Life After Crisis in IDP Camp

Khadijat faces hardship in the camp. The environmental condition is unpleasant. She is grateful that individuals and organisations are coming up with interventions to better their welfare.

Future Aspiration

Funmi is confident about the future. She hopes that her life will be as productive as she wishes it to be, with peace and access to justice. She wants to be a lawyer in the nearest future.

Life Before Crisis

Funmi lived in a peaceful village before they were attacked. She and her family earned a living from farming. They were contented with what they made from the activity. Her school fees were paid with the proceeds from farming.

Life After Crisis in IDP Camp

Funmi's move to the camp hasn't been pleasant. She explained that the circle represents the life they live which follows a cycle devoid of progress. The zig-zag lines depicts uncertyainty. The red colour symbolizes the dangers they face, while the orange colour depict their vulnerable situation. The yellow colour signifies the little rays of hope they see as a result of the efforts of individuals and organizations to improve their wellbeing.

Future Aspiration

Juliet's hope is that her future would be as bright and as colourful as the rainbow. She wants life to be comfortable for her again.

Life Before Crisis

Juliet loves reading. She was a student who enjoyed her schooling experience. She had high expectations of humanity. She genuinely believed everyone should love his/her neighbour.

Life After Crisis in IDP Camp

Juliet's heart was broken after the attack as she had to leave the comfort she grew up in to an unknow environment. She is sad about the bad treatment she is getting from fellow humans who should love her.

Future Aspiration

Bridget wants to be reintegrated back into society. She wants to experience peace and love again with her family in a decent environment.

Life Before Crisis

Bridget is full of imaginations. She had imagined a bright future for herself and her family. She was on a path towards her desires before they were attacked.

Life After Crisis in IDP Camp

Bridget is being exploited by the people who should protect her. She is in pains and is unable to speak out because she is afraid.

Future Aspiration

Shiphrah hopes to learn fashion design to empower herself, and teach other girls so as to empower them so that they can become independent and contribute to breaking the barriers hindering women and girls from maximazing their potentials.

Life Before Crisis

Shiphrah had access to decent health care and a serene environment before the crisis. The conditions may not be the best, but she benefitted from, and enjoyed what they offered her.

Life After Crisis in IDP Camp

Life in the camp for Shiphrah is hard. The conditions are not good. She is thankful for the efforts people are putting in to improve their conditions.
