Improving safety and security by adding and updating secure vestibules at every building so that visitors can be properly screened before entering. All of our neighboring districts have secure vestibules. Bus, vehicular, and pedestrian traffic flow at Salt Creek Primary has been a challenge for a long time. The Safe Schools | Secure Futures proposal will create separate entrances and traffic lanes for buses and cars, as well as add additional parking spaces, which will improve pedestrian and vehicular safety and traffic flow during drop-off and pick-up.

The entry vestibules at all three schools are in need of important safety and security improvements so visitors are properly screened before entering the buildings and interacting with staff and students. This includes installing additional cameras, clearly defining visitor entrances, and improving sight lines. All main entrances will also be ADA compliant once the secure vestibules are completed.
Safety concerns Salt Creek Primary include traffic backups on Frontage Road, poor traffic circulation, and insufficient parking. Pedestrians, including parents and students, who use the parking lot must cross through the bus loading area to enter the building. The proposed plan includes separate entrances and traffic lanes for school buses and passenger cars as well as additional parking spaces. These improvements will improve vehicular and pedestrian safety and reduce neighborhood traffic congestion.
Albright Administrative offices will be relocated so they are adjacent to the entrances. This will limit the number of visitors who need to enter the school for meetings while classes are in session.

The new secure vestibule at Stella May Swartz will increase visibility so that visitors can be properly screened. Parking and the administrative offices will be relocated adjacent to the new entrance, limiting the number of visitors who need to enter the school for meetings while classes are in session.

The Salt Creek Primary front office will be reconfigured and updated to accomodate the secure entry. This includes creating a more functional nurse's office and toilet room.
The Safe Schools | Secure Futures proposal creates separate entrances and traffic lanes for buses and cars, as well as adding additional parking spaces, which will improve pedestrian and vehicular safety and traffic flow during drop-off and pick-up. A new school bus loading area on the east side of the building will separate the bus traffic from the automobile traffic, improving operations and safety.
A total of 85 parking spaces (currently 34) are proposed, which would provide extra parking for events hosted at the school. Additional parking and improved traffic flow will reduce congestion in the surrounding neighborhood.
