Q (For Ms. Decker): What interests you about our school?

Q: How do you measure success?
A: I measure success by how I see my students improving as the year goes on. I feel most successful when my students are willing to try, because they trust that I am going to do my best to help them understand.
Q: Are you a cat or dog lover, and how many do you have?

That was 29 years ago, and I’ve been teaching math ever since.
Q: What is your goal at Waldo?
A: My goal at Waldo is to teach to the best of my ability everyday. I want all of my students to leave Waldo knowing that they are capable of being successful in high school math.
Q: Was Waldo your first school to work at?
A: The first school I worked at was Lindsay Middle School in Hampton, Virginia. I taught middle school in Virginia for 12 years before I moved back to Oregon and started teaching at Waldo.

Question 1: If you had another job at a different school, how did it compare to Waldo?

Question 2: Do you play video games and do you have a comfort game that you play?
Answer 2: I do play video games, and my comfort game is Elden Ring.
Question 3: What video game is your favorite game, and how long have you played?
Answer 3: The game that is my favorite is Skyrim. I've played it since I was a child, and I finished it.

Answer 4: I think it's just the exploration of the game and the opportunities within it.
Question 5: Do you like playing solo story games or multiplayer games? Why?

Q: Why did you choose Waldo?
A: I was notified that I would be transferred to a middle school. I was secretly hoping it would be Waldo.
Q: What do you think you would work at if you didn't work at Waldo?
A: I would still be at North Salem. I had been there for 16 years.
Q: What sacrifices did you make to become a principal?
A: Time. There are a lot of events and meetings. I have to be available. Relationships, being true to myself, and support from family have helped. If I didn't have support it would make a challenging job even more difficult.
Q: What was something negative about working at Waldo?
A: Honestly, absolutely nothing. I feel like I've been accepted. It is such a great place for me, and I feel very blessed.
Q. Have you ever thought about working as something else and not a principal?
A: My college major was business. I always thought I would work in a big city. I was not happy, so I decided to pursue my master’s degree. Before going back to school, I sold everything I owned and bought a one way ticket to Los Angeles. I lived on Catalina Island for two years. I then returned home and started classes at Western Oregon University in the Masters of Arts in Teaching program.

When the Kite String Pops is an album including melodies ranging from dreadful, angry, and melancholy to the most sorrowfully surreal but beautiful poems. Dax Riggs, the main songwriter and vocalist for Acid Bath, implements lyrics heavily inspired by Jim Morrison of The Doors.
Some songs make you want to lash out and destroy everything in front of you, and some just grab you by the mind and twitch your ears to some of the most sad, deep and dark but groovy songs and poems you will ever hear.“The Blue,” the first song on the album with vibes and energy like Black Sabbath, and a sweet sprinkle of rage with some of their heaviest breakdowns. Another song, called “Tranquilized,” the second song on the album with riffs and drum beats that make you want to run ten miles.
“Scream Of The Butterfly,” the title taken from The Doors song “When The Musics Over,” and turned into probably some of the most depressingly stunning chords with lyrics that make you sink to the floor and slip away from your consciousness with a newfound infernal lust. “God Machine”is a foreboding, perfectly structured and amazingly heavy song.
This album is it’s own thing, with softer songs, some being more violent, but some with hints of punk in it, and some that make you want to bawl your eyes out as they bounce away into a corner.
This band could’ve broken the world’s mind with their skill, their style, and just everything. This band has always been my favorite, and always will be since the day I first listened to them. If they were still together today, I wouldn’t have to write any of this. I still shouldn’t have to write this because of those two albums. January 23rd 1997, something horrible happened. The bass player Audie Pitre, and his parents all died in a drunk driving accident, causing the band to break up.

EPIC: The Musical is the best thing I had ever heard in my life, but before I talk about the actual songs I'll have to talk about the premise. It is about the Odyssey, and it follows the main character Odysseus king of Ithaca, and his Odyssey is to go back home. Sounds easy, right? No wrong because you see his luck had ran out after he left the battlefield. He and his 300 soldiers travel across the Sea of Monsters. Now onto the songs…
Troy Saga
Basic summary: The Troy saga is about Odysseus fighting in the Trojan War, and Odysseus is forced to kill an infant. After he leaves, his men ask if they could stop by an island to get some food. They do, but they landed on the island of the lotus eaters so they leave to get food someplace else. Good songs, consistent tone, 6.5/10
Cyclops Saga
Basic summary: Odysseus lands on a island were he finds sheep in a cave, so they kill the sheep but the sheep belonged to a cyclops named Polyphemus. Odysseus gives him some nice wine to leave with the sheep. Polyphemus says no and kills his men anyways then falls asleep. Odysseus and his men turn Polyphemus’s club to a spear and stab his eye out, then Polyphemus's brothers and sisters appear because they heard Polyphemus crying in pain. Odysseus is twelve steps ahead, however. He told Polyphemus his name was Nobody, so when Polyphemus’s family asked who did this he said nobody did it. Odysseus leaves with his men. Songs are better, but the tone shifts a little, 7/10
Ocean Saga
Basic summary: He travels on the ocean and then a storm happens. He finds the island in the sky, then a catchy song plays. Odysseus gets the storm in a magic bag and the he travels to his home. You might think Odysseus is good, but his men share a total of one brain cell and they open the bag even though Odysseus says it has the storm inside.
All their progress gets reversed, then they meet Poseidon and the ocean god is pissed because his son Polyphemus was blinded by Odysseus and so he came here to kill them all. However, Odysseus has a big brain and used the remaining wind to get out of there. Great songs and the some of the best, 9/10
The Circe Saga
Basic summary: Odysseus and his men go to an island and scout out the area, but they bump into to Circe who uses her female figure to seduce Odysseus’s men. It works one all except one who reveals that them men were turned into pigs.
Odysseus is like no i'm going to solve this and then he bumps into his grandpa Hermes. Many things happen to help resolve their issues. All the songs are great but the pacing could be better, 7/10
The Underworld Saga
Basic summary: Odysseus goes to the Underworld and meets the dead men that died due to Polyphemus and Poseidon. After being thoroughly traumatized, Odysseus meets a prophet who says so you'll make it back, but a lot of people will die. One of them is amazing, and just for that 10/10
The Thunder Saga, The Wisdom Saga, The Vengeance Saga, and The Ithaca Saga round out this musical. You will have to experience it yourself to learn what happens. I hope that you check this out; the performance is top notch and the more somber songs really have emotions to it. Epic the Musical is underrated, and I think it truly needs more attention especially because its half way complete. I recommend that you watch it all the way through before making your decision, but if you only like rap and hip hop then you might not like it. If you do like it, then spread the word. My final review: great songs overall good vibes, beat is great, and it is a good time. I give Epic the Musical a 74.5/100.

Sun absorbs the clouds,
Eating away the cold.
Rain turned to shine,
Newly grown leaves are now exposed.
The green of trees,
A freshly plucked rose.
The beauty of nature
Is no longer covered by snow.
The children laugh and play,
Making mud pies instead of snowmen.
They’re no longer confined inside of their rooms,
And sounds of laughter ricochet off of tree trunks.

Selena Quintanilla born April 16,1971 and had a singing career including her and her family. I grew up watching the Selena movie and I would watch it probably everyday.
Something I got from that movie was that she played in a band with her siblings and other people and also that she fell in love with Chris Perez while playing in the band together.
Some good songs are Amor Prohibido, Baila Esta Cumbia, I Could Fall in Love and Como la Flor. I recommend them because they are relatable.
In 1994 she won a Grammy for best Mexican-American album for “Live”. She also won 36 Tejano Music Awards, 14 Billboard Latin Music Awards, 10 Lo Nuestro Awards, five BMI Awards and one award from the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers. If Selena was still alive i think that she would have won many more awards.
I think that Selena was and still is a very loved and talented person and I definitely recommend listening to her music if you haven't already and to watch her movie and show I recommend that too!

Giveon Dezmann Evans, better known as Giveon, is an American R&B singer. He was born on February 21 1995, in Los Angeles County. His music career started on soundcloud where he uploaded his first song “Gardan kisses” in 2018. He was shortly discovered by Savn Thomas and was later signed to his record label not so fast and epic records.
His most popular album is “Take Time” with a total of 2.3M views and was released on March 27 2020. His most popular song in that album is Heartbreak Anniversary, the song went viral on video-sharing app Tiktok, the song had surpassed 143 million streams, including 97 million streams on Spotify.
Giveon's first tour, consisting of fourteen different shows spread throughout North America. One show was outside of the United States, in Toronto, Canada where Drake made an appearance. A little fact about Giveon, is that he realized his passion for music at a young age, often singing at birthday parties. Giveon is known for his baritone vocal, he is inspired by jazz music from the 1960s and 19970s.
I recommend Giveon, if you are into R&B. One song I recommend from him is the song “For Tonight.” One of my favorite things about this artist is that his music is relaxing and soothing, and his songs always have a vibe.

Have you ever been to Red Robin? Red Robin is a restaurant founded by Gerry Kingen in 1969. It is a restaurant with good food and an even better atmosphere, with a location in Salem,Oregon being in the Willamette Town Center not too far away from Waldo.
A notable feature that they offer are the unlimited fries, you basically just get unlimited refillable fries while waiting for your main meal. They also offer a wide variety of burgers and drinks, I recommend the sunny side up egg burger. Fun fact: you get a free ice cream sundae on your birthday, so you should go on your birthday for free ice cream!
If you are going with people, make sure to bring extra money as the food is a little expensive, but the experience is priceless. They also offer lemonade and strawberry lemonade as well as other variations I haven’t tried yet. The booths and tables are quite large so make sure to bring your family or a friend or two.
If you’re a sports fan, they have many televisions showing sports such as basketball, volleyball, and many others to watch while eating your food. In conclusion, Red Robin is a unique restaurant with a good atmosphere which offers unlimited fries, birthday ice cream, and other things I didn’t cover, which you will have to find out for yourselves!

Type O Negative's musical style has been described as gothic metal, gothic rock, and doom metal.
The drummer is Sal Abruscato who is 50 years old. Their guitarist is Kenny Hickey who is 57. Their vocalist and bassist is Peter Steele who died at 48 in 2010 which made the band break up.
Peter Steele was in the band Carnivore before joining Type O negative in the 1980s naming the band Repulsion before settling on Type O negative.
They made their top hit songs “Love You to Death” in 1996 and “I Don't Want to be Me” in 2003.
“Christian Woman" and "Black No. 1 (Little Miss Scare-All)" are their biggest hits.
Type O Negative has sold 2.5 million albums and accumulated 98.4 million streams in the United States. Black Sabbath and the Beatles as main influences on Type O Negative.
The name "Type O Negative" was chosen because it referred to Peter Steele's blood type and the band's negative and dark themes. Type O Negative's first album, Slow, Deep and Hard, included dragging Black Sabbath-esque dirge riffs, maniacal hardcore outbursts, and droning industrial and gothic atmospheres.
These are some of my favorite songs:
Type O Negative - Bloody Kisses (A Death In The Family)
Type O Negative - I Don't Wanna Be Me [OFFICIAL VIDEO]

Staff from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office took time to visit journalism students at Waldo Middle School! On February 22, we spoke with three staff members: Detective Karni Petit, Deputy Eli Kaspar, and Deputy Spencer Hansen.
All of them gave interesting answers to our questions. They showed us their car and gear to see how it looks. To serve in law enforcement, you need to do a lot of training.
"I took one criminal justice class in college and I got hooked," Detective Karni Petit said about how she got started. "I've always wanted to do something to give back to the community."
Deputy Eli Kaspari likes his job, but sometimes it can be challenging.
"You work with the people who are doing not so nice things to other people," he said.
Petit added,"It is hard, but if you're built for it then it really is a calling."
After the press conference, we went outside to see their dog and the car. It is similar to a police car, but there are some differences having to do with the lights. There is a computer inside, and also walls so that people don’t become reckless and try to fight. Detective Petit said they hope to add more space in the back of the car.
Overall, it was a really nice visit! I recommend journalism because there are a lot of people who visit Room 208 and you learn about a lot of different topics.

Rudy’s Steakhouse is a good place to go to on a special occasion because it is a spendy place. Even though it might be expensive, I recommend this restaurant because they have good service and the food is well prepared.
If you do end up going to Rudy’s, then I recommend calling and reserving a table for a big party because it does take a while to be seated.
If you're interested in buying a steak, I recommend the New York steak during normal hours, and the steak bites during happy hour. If you're interested in pastas, my family said their mac and cheese was very delicious. There are many different foods to try as well.
The vibe at this place is very fancy and modern, so it wouldn't be the best restaurant to wear pajamas even if you really want to. Overall the food, drinks, and venue are very fancy.Maybe you could even go for a party, celebration, or anniversary. Make your special night out even better with a visit to Rudy’s.

Are aliens real? I would say so because how could we be the only life in the entire universe? Sure, maybe there are no aliens near our sun, but there are thousands of suns and probably thousands of other planets. We don’t know how far the galaxy stretches or even if the galaxy ends.
How does that work? There could always be a couple of other life forms out there, although I doubt aliens would look or act the way they do in movies. It would be weird if a bunch of aliens could be super intelligent but we are still super behind. Technically speaking, we are also aliens if you think about it.
Aliens are just life forms from another planet, so we are their aliens because we are on another planet from them. Of course there must be aliens out there. How could there not be?
Just because we haven't seen any doesn't mean they don’t exist. We never thought the blob fish was real, but they were real. They were just living in a place that we couldn't get for a long time, and finally we know that a blob fish exists. This is why I know that there are aliens out in the big old galaxy.

A: I love being a coach because it helps kids stay out of trouble and connect with people.
Q: Do you like being a behavior specialist? If so, what is your favorite part?
A: I think there are no such things as bad kids, but just kids that make bad decisions. I enjoy helping kids achieve things in the real world; a lot of these kids get in trouble and don't have anyone to trust. It gives me an opportunity to be that person they can trust.
Q: What was your first job? And what made you want to do it?
A: My first job was at Dairy Queen because there is nothing better than burgers and shakes.
Q: What are the best and hardest parts of your jobs?
A: The best part is every day is never the same. I get to develop relationships with the students.
