One of the messages I gave to the team last week was "This is your last chance to figure things out". Your kids have run hundreds of miles since summer conditioning started and now we've finished what we call the "regular season". It's officially late October, which for cross country runners only means one thing: CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON, BABY.
While the top spots on the team have been more or less claimed since early September, the remaining spots have been up for grabs each week. With just under a week from the SEC Red Championships, several seniors ran inspired in their last traverse of Willow Metropark. I want to shout out Carlos Basulto who stormed home to a 2nd place finish to rightfully earn his spot on the line next week. Let's keep the momentum going boys.
THE BATTLE CONTINUES. Every week the two friends joke about who will beat who in the next race. At River Rat, Oliver shaved 12 seconds off his PR to add another win tally to his record. With one last matchup at Hudson Mills, who will take it in the final race??
