We are really, really lucky to have an incredible athlete splitting his time with us this year. When he's not starting for the VARSITY soccer team before he's even attended a day of high school, he's out there WINNING races in a Saline XC jersey. Crossing the line 25 seconds clear of second place, I'd bet the house this isn't the last race Reed Nadig wins as a hornet...

Of the 41 Hornets to cross the finish line in the last two weeks, 12 of them are 9th graders. Of those 12, 4 are already sub 19, and the entire class is sub 24 minutes. I'd have to dig really, really deep into the Saline XC archives to find a freshman class who is ALREADY this impressive.  Dare I say...this is the beginning of a new dynasty??

We all knew last year that 9th grade Will Sollenberger was one to watch. While he had a very solid season, it wasn't the one he had dreamed of. Well, going sub 17 for the first time in the first invitational of the season in year two is a promising sign for a bright, bright future. Look for many, many more seconds to be shaved off this time.

Oliver Patterson is one of the most reliable leaders on this team. He shows up to every practice and is a great pacer for his group of guys. I don't think there's anybody on the team who doesn't recognize the work he puts in. I wanted to give a special shout out here because he began his junior campaign with a PR of 23:02 at Lamplighter. For reference, on the same day last year Oliver ran a 27:04, and did not go under 24 minutes until October 1st. Oliver is proof to everybody on the team that hard work pays off, and I want to make sure it doesn't go unnoticed.
