Nate Lampman earned a bachelor’s degree in music education and a master’s
degree of music performance in conducting from Michigan State University. While
at MSU, he studied conducting with John Whitwell and John Madden, as well as
trombone with Curtis Olson. Mr. Lampman is in his 27th year as Director of
Bands at Saline High School. His instruction responsibilities include Ninth Grade
Band, Blue Symphonic Band, Gold Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, Basketball Band, and
the Saline Marching Band. Under his direction, the Saline High School Wind
Ensemble has performed at the Smoky Mountain Music Festival, the Chicago
Master’s of Music Festival at Symphony Center, and three times at the Michigan Music
Conference. The Saline Marching Band has been chosen to perform in
Disneyworld’s Performing Arts Program six times during his tenure at Saline. Mr.
Lampman works closely with his colleagues at the university level and has
supervised over forty student teachers in the past twenty five years. He received the Michigan ATE Cooperating Teacher of the Year award for the State of Michigan in 2017.
Mr. Lampman is active in MSBOA, having served in the District 12 positions of President,
Vice President for Solo and Ensemble, and Secretary. He was voted District 12
Teacher of the Year in 2007 and 2015. He has been involved in the Music Ministry Team at
First United Methodist Church of Saline as a trombonist, percussionist, and as
former director of the handbell choir. Mr. Lampman lives in Saline with his wife
Nicole and has two adult sons, Alex and Ryan, who are SHS alumni.
