Ben Burke is a senior at Saline High School. Ben is a seasoned writer who is currently working on writing a book of his own. Ben has prior experience at the writing center and is an aspiring English teacher. Ben’s interests outside of writing include reading books, playing music, playing and competing in video games, and spending time with his family and his four cats. He is a firm believer in the powers of self reflection and cooperation.
Anastasia Dubovoy is a senior at Saline High School and a second-year Writing Center consultant. She has taken a variety of writing-intensive classes, including APUSH, Honors English 9 and 10, and AP Language and Composition. She co-founded the newspaper club year and is a member of the book club as well, and has been on varsity tennis since her freshman year. Outside of school, Anastasia enjoys reading and hanging out with friends. Anastasia is very excited to be a consultant again this year and help other students develop their writing skills.
Kathryn Feller is a senior at Saline High School. At Saline, she is involved in NHS, Link Crew and Varsity Tennis. She is co-founder of the Newspaper Club and is a section leader in the Marching Band. In her free time, she enjoys reading, baking, walking outside, and sailing. Kathryn is very excited to be a Writing Center consultant this year and can't wait to help others grow as writers!
Madeline Finocchiaro is senior at Saline High School. Madeline is involved in a variety of clubs such as Student Council, The Buzz, Criminal Investigation Club, Key Club, Mock Trial, Students Against Climate Change, and more! Madeline enjoy reading and writing, her favorite book being The Life of Pi by Yann Martel. Outside of school, Madeline is on the Saline Varsity Dance Team and enjoys dancing in her free time. She also loves to bake!
Calli Hargreaves is Senior at Saline High School and loves helping others. Calli has taken courses such as Honors English 9-10, AP Psychology and AP Language and Composition. Calli is also involved in activities such as Key Club and National Honors Society and enjoys reading, spending time with friends, and building legos outside of the classroom. Calli is super excited to working with students and be a part of the Writing Center community.
Maddie Holderbaum is a senior at Saline High School and second year consultant at the writing center. She has taken advanced courses such as AP US History, AP Lang, AP Gov, AP Environmental Science, and Honors English 9 & 10. She is currently enrolled in AP Bio, AP Comp Sci, and AP Psychology. Through SHS, Maddie enjoys being a member of marching band, symphonic band, poetry club, and NHS. Outside of school, she pursues her passion for fossils through a local club, the Friends of the U of M Museum of Paleontology. During her free time, she loves painting, birdwatching, reading, and playing electric bass. She is looking forward to helping others through the writing center.
Ben Holloway is a senior at Saline High school and a first-year member of the Writing Center. Ben is a varsity and four-year member of the Saline Men's Golf Team and is very dedicated to the sport. In addition to golf Ben participates in a number of clubs, including Students Against Climate Change and the Culture Apreciation Club. During his highschool career Ben has taken many high level english classes that have prepared him to provide valuable feedback and he is very excited to assist students with their writing. Outside of school, Ben works at Travis Pointe Country Club, and enjoys practiing golf, reading, and spending time with friends and family.
Bill Hong is a senior at Saline High School and a dual enrollment student at the University of Michigan for mathematics. Engaging in many courses and opportunities, such as AP English and Composition and robotics research at the UM Roahm Lab, Bill has discovered new passions and hopes to find more. During his free time, he likes to spend time with his family and friends, play his cello, listen to music, and cook. Bill looks forward to enjoying his senior year and helping others as a Writing Center consultant.
Ava House is a senior at Saline High School. While at Saline, Ava has taken some advanced classes such as AP US History, AP Government, AP Biology and many science courses, as she wishes to pursue a career in the medical field. Ava is currently enrolled in AP Lit and AP Psychology. Ava is also involved in NHS, Key Club, Newspaper Club, Book Club and is on the Varsity Lacrosse team. Additionally, she plays travel with Cyclones Lacrosse. Outside of school, she loves hanging out with friends, going to concerts, reading, and baking. Ava is really excited to have the opportunity to help other students and be a part of the writing center again this year!
Andrew Irgang is currently a senior at Saline High School. Outside of school, Irgang runs Cross Country and competes in Science Olympiad. Irgang enjoys coding, building electronics, and reading in their free time.
Weiran (Alice) Jiang is a senior at Saline High School. She has two siblings and a pet rabbit named Oreo. Her favorite dessert is fruit tarts, and she loves mango bubble tea. Outside of school, she enjoys finding conspiracy theories, reading, staying at home, and playing board games with her family. Fun fact: if you give her an 215.0 gram avocado, she will give you a very shiny penny.
Chase Johansson is a rising senior at Saline High School and a returning consultant in the Writing Center. Chase is involved with several clubs at SHS, including National Honor Society and GIDAS. Aside from service organizations, he is passionate about biology and chemistry, and hopes to study some form of biotechnology in college. He also loves to read and write, and enjoys his work in the writing center. This year, he is dedicated to fostering connections with the Senior Center Writing Club through our annual Writing Marathon events.
Ria Kak is a senior at Saline High School. She has taken advanced English courses, including AP Language & Composition, Honors English 9 and 10, and is currently enrolled in AP Literature. Ria serves as the president of Key Club and is also a member of NHS, Red Cross, and several other clubs. Outside of school, she enjoys playing tennis, traveling, reading, and spending time with friends and family.
Logan Kipley is a senior at Saline High School and a second year writing center consultant. Some of his favorite classes have been AP English Language, AP Government, and AP Economics. He is involved in several activities outside of school, including Cross country, lacrosse, Spanish club, NHS, and several others. Logan can’t wait to continue fostering a positive community with his peers through the writing center.
Charlotte Kreucher is a senior at Saline High School. She has taken multiple advanced English classes and is excited to bring her experience to the Writing Center. Along with writing, Charlotte has pursued her interests in math and computer science and looks forward to a career in those fields. Additionally, Charlotte is involved in NHS and Link Crew. Outside of school, Charlotte enjoys trying new recipes, crafting, spending time with her cats, and traveling. Charlotte looks forward to joining the Writing Center this year and helping students reach their full potential!
Carolyn Kwon is a senior at Saline High School. Throughout her academic career, Carolyn has experience taking a variety of rigorous courses, most notably AP Language & Composition and AP Biology. Additionally, she enjoys taking advantage of the numerous clubs offered, such as Student Council, Key Club, Red Cross Club, Criminal Investigation Club, Spanish Club, Culture Appreciation Club, Debate, National Honors Society, and Students Against Climate Change. In her free time, Carolyn can be found spending time with her family and friends, volunteering, working, crafting, or walking her dog. Going forward, she plans on pursuing biology and is excited to join the writing center!
Mikayla Lewis is a senior at Saline High School. Mikayla has taken advanced classes such as Honors English, Honors Chemistry, AP Language and Composition, AP Psychology, and now AP Literature and Composition. Mikayla likes to stay involved with the school through clubs such as FIDM Fashion Club, UpRoar, Book Club, and the school newspaper. Mikayla is the Varsity Bowling captain along with being on the Saline High School Track team. Outside of school Mikayla loves to read, spend time with friends, and listen to music in her free time. Mikayla is very excited to assist people with their writing this year and help everyone reach their full writing potential!
Preston Lynn is a senior at Saline High School and a first year writing center consultant. He has taken a plethora of AP and other advanced classes and wishes to pursue a career in biology or science. In addition, he has been playing SHS soccer for four years and club soccer for eight years. Preston is part of Key Club, Student Council, NHS, Culture Appreciation Club, and Quiz Bowl. Outside of school, Preston loves to hike and spend time outside wherever he can. He hopes to be a useful resource for SHS students this year as a writing consultant.
Julianna Marini is 17 years old and a senior at Saline High School. Julianna is a member of National Honors Society, Student Council, and Spanish Club. Additionally, Julianna can be found on the field playing Girls Varsity Lacrosse for Saline High School and Cyclones Club Lacrosse. Julianna can also be found on the ice playing Women’s Hockey for Washtenaw United, winning the D2 State Championship this past season. She has taken Honors English 9 and 10, AP Lang, AP Calculus, and AP Spanish Language. This year, she is taking AP Literature, AP Biology, and AP Spanish Literature. Outside of school, Julianna loves spending time with her friends and family, especially attending concerts. Her favorites include Bad Bunny, Taylor Swift, Harry Styles, and Zach Bryan.
Kaitlyn Marria is a 12th grader at Saline High School and a new member of the Writing Center this year. Kaitlyn enjoys art, reading, writing, and participating in various school clubs—Cultural Appreciation Club being one of her favorites. Outside of school she loves thrifting with her friends and spending time with family. She also loves the fall and winter seasons and celebrating the holidays that come with them. After high school, Kaitlyn plans to study journalism or creative writing, and she is excited to help other students on their own writing journeys.
Mara McClellan is a second-year Writing Center consultant and a senior at Saline High School. Some of her favorite courses at SHS include Honors English 9, AP Language and Composition, Human Physiology, and AP Biology. In addition to her work in the Writing Center, Mara is a co-founder of SHS Biology Tutoring, an organization that provides no-cost tutoring to students enrolled in Biology 9. Outside of school, she enjoys swimming, running, playing water polo, listening to music, and reading. Mara is so excited to continue helping students grow as writers!
Leah Mueller is a senior at Saline High School and a writing center consultant. She has taken several rigorous courses, including AP Statistics, AP Calc BC, AP Language and Composition, AP Biology, and is now taking AP Physics and a dual enrollment in calculus. She is one of the drum majors for the Saline Marching Band and captain of the Saline ski team. She is also involved in NHS, GIDAS, and coaches Girls on the Run in the spring. Outside of school, Leah enjoys reading, baking, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.
John Omega is a senior at Saline High School. He enjoys music, and is in both the marching band as a saxophonist and the wind ensemble as a clarinetist. He also has a terrier mix dog named Zeke who he loves to play fetch with. Outside of school, John enjoys volunteering at many organizations (such as the Lenawee Humane Society in Adrian), reading, throwing frisbees, and playing badminton. You might also see him working at Meijer on the weekends. He is looking forward to helping other students improve their writing at the writing center.
Irysha Palmer is a senior at Saline High School. She has taken multiple AP courses, such as AP US History, AP Language and Composition, AP Biology, and AP Government. Irysha is a co-founder of Students Against Climate Change (Saline Interact), and a member of Criminal Investigation Club, Red Cross Club, Key Club, and National Honor Society. She is also a member of Student Council and Saline Lacrosse. Outside of school, some of Irysha’s hobbies include traveling, writing, and painting. Irysha wants to major in political science in college, but she is also interested in environmentalism. Irysha is thrilled to be a member of Writing Center and she is eager to help others advance their writing!
Carly Pufpaf is a senior at Saline High School. She has taken and is currently enrolled in rigorous courses that challenge her to expand her skills and abilities as a writer, notably AP Language and Composition, AP Literature, and AP U.S. History. Here at SHS, she is a member of numerous clubs and organizations, such as Link Crew, Key Club, SACC, Newspaper Club, student council, and NHS. During her free time, Carly enjoys playing field hockey and lacrosse, spending time with friends and family, and doing anything outside. Carly is looking forward to helping her peers grow as writers!
Ava Schneider is a senior at Saline High School and a first-year consultant at the Writing Center. Ava’s favorite subjects are English and history but her all-time favorite class is band. She enjoys playing in the Marching Band and competing on the Ski Team. Ava likes to read, watch TV, play with her dogs, and bake in her free time.
Olivia Simon is a Senior at Saline High School. She has taken advanced courses at Saline such as Honors English 9 and 10, AP US History, Ap US Government, AP Language and Composition, AP Psychology, and AP English Literature. She plays varsity lacrosse and field hockey for the school and enjoys playing travel lacrosse for the Cyclones in the summer. Outside of school, Olivia loves writing, listening to music, hiking, and watching movies. She looks forward to being a consultant in the writing center again this year and helping students grow as writers.
Sienna Snyder is a senior at Saline High School who loves writing and has taken Honors English 10 and Human Body Systems. This year she is excited to continue her education with AP Biology, Medical Interventions, and AP Language & Composition, and has a strong interest in the medical field. She is a member of NHS and High Five Club. Sienna plays club soccer at the Hawks and is on the Saline Varsity Women’s Soccer team. Outside of school, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, shopping, going to the pool, and traveling. Sienna is so excited to help students achieve their writing potential.
Ava Stripp is a senior at Saline High School. She has experience in AP Language and Composition, Honors English 10, Honors English 9, AP Calculus BC, and is currently enrolled in AP Economics. Ava is involved in many extracurriculars such as softball, Student Council, NHS, Link Crew, Culinary Club, and Cultural Club. In addition, she serves as the President of DECA and the Co-President of High 5 Club. In her free time, Ava enjoys being outside, baking, and spending time with family and friends. She enjoys writing and is excited to help other students improve their writing skills.
Anna Bonner is a junior at Saline High School and is a first year consultant in the Writing Center. Anna enjoys reading and writing and plans to take AP lang to help further her knowledge, along with other AP’s throughout her high school experience. Outside of school, Anna is in a variety of clubs which include SAR, Key Club, Red Cross Club, NHS, SACC, and Students Help Students club which she co founded. Anna is also on her second year on the Saline Varsity Dance Team, and recently studied for a few weeks at Columbia University which she followed up with an international business class through American University. Anna is very excited to help others improve their writing in the writing center!
Cloe Bumanglag is a junior at Saline High School. This year, she is enrolled in AP Psychology and AP Language and Composition alongside other classes. Outside of school, Cloe enjoys reading, shopping, going out with her friends, and taking photos using her digital camera. She has an interest in helping others grow with their writing, and sees the Writing Center as a space for other students to get additional constructive and effective feedback from peers.
Iman Gormley-Veasley is a Junior at Saline High School and a first-year Writing Center consultant. Iman is especially passionate about science, taking classes ranging from Medical Interventions to AP Chemistry. She also has a love for writing and often finds herself crafting stories or poems in her free time. Iman is involved in several clubs at Saline High School such as Link Crew, GIDAS, and Key Club. Outside of school, she enjoys reading new books, studying, catching up on shows, and hanging out with friends. Iman is both honored and excited to be a part of the Writing Center this school year.
Kennedy Lange is a junior at Saline High School. Kennedy is currently enrolled in AP Language and Composition and AP US Government. She is also apart of the schools cross country and track team. Outside of school, Kennedy enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, and baking. Her favorite subject is English and she is looking forward to helping students improve on their writing abilities.
Alex Lillie is a Junior at Saline Highschool who's taken AP US History, AP US Government, AP Language and Composition. He specializes in History and English and hopes to pursue a career in government in the future. He is on the SHS swim and dive team and waterpolo team and enjoys sleeping in his free time.
Jamie Meyers is a Junior at Saline Highschool. This is his first year being a consultant in the Writing Center. He is involved with ASL Club, Drama Club, and Hornet Light and Sound. He likes to act, draw, read, and write. Jamie is excited to help his peers with writing throughout the year.
Bryce Nadig is an 11th grade student at Saline High School. Bryce plays both soccer (captain) and golf for the school. Outside of school, Bryce enjoys playing club soccer and hanging out with his friends.
Maizie Ratajczak is a junior at Saline High School. She has experience in science, English, and social studies courses at the normal and AP level but her favorite subjects are science and math. In her free time she enjoys swimming, running, crocheting, and playing water polo.
Henry Strozeski is a junior at Saline. He is ecstatic to be a consultant for the SHS Writing Center this year! As well as being a consultant at the writing center, Henry is an active member and officer of the Saline Drama Club (and he’d love it if you dropped into a meeting sometime!). Henry also plays the alto saxophone in the Saline Marching Band and Wind Ensemble. Whenever Henry has free time, which isn’t often, he loves to call friends, play saxophone, and write stories! When Henry graduates, he wishes to be an Actor, Composer (specifically for musical theater), or Author.
Caitlyn Widiarta is a junior at Saline High School. Currently, she is enrolled in AP Chemistry and AP Psychology, and hopes to take other advanced academic courses during her time at SHS. She also enjoys participating in Chamber Orchestra and the tennis team, as well the school’s clubs such as the Poetry Club and the High Five Club. In her free time, she likes to play the violin, write poetry, watch anime, volunteer, and draw. She hopes to be able to help people improve their writing this year!
