Salesianos Deusto, belonging to the network of Salesian schools, offers the following services in Bilbao: nursery school, primary school, secondary school, high school, vocational training, non-regulated training for adults (Hobetuz and Lanbide).
It began its operation on January 11, 1938, thanks to the initiative of Don Tomás Urquijo, a shipping industrialist who wanted to build a Training Center for the children of workers.
The educational-pastoral style of Don Bosco has given its own characteristics to the Proposal:
– Be popular, free and open to all social classes, giving preference to those most in need.
– Put the student at the center of educational action.
– Present ourselves as an educating family, in which young people find “their own home.”
– Highlight the personalization of educational relationships through presence of educators among students.
– Give preference to the needs of the area.
– Promote solidarity with the poor.
– Make real the co-responsible participation of all members of the Educational Community.
– Take advantage of public financing to promote free education education.
Furthermore, our concept of comprehensive promotion of people requires us to:
– Help give life to the local community through the knowledge and cultivation of the language, customs and culture of the Basque Country.
– Promote a climate of integration and openness to all peoples and cultures.
– Promote participation in the life and mission of the local Church.
