Environmental club is designed to bring awareness to the daily impact we have on the world around us. Members of this club will help collect recyclable material throughout our school on a weekly basis. Members will also be able to promote recycling and advocate for our environment. During club meetings, members will have the opportunity to learn about environmental concerns in the Valley.
Meeting Dates:
9:00 AM on the first and third Wednesday of each month via Zoom. Email klarson@salem.k12.va.us for a Zoom link!

As of late, I have been really digging deep into how I can reduce my carbon footprint, and how I can reach out to others to reduce their carbon footprint. I have stumbled across something known as a Zero Waste Lifestyle. Although this type of lifestyle takes time, I think this is a very good goal to reach for.
And of course, always recycle. Especially if your in a room here at SHS that has recycling bins. If you see someone putting 12 sheets of paper in the trash, do what you have to do to get it in the recycling. Do the same for plastics, because the only way this can work, is if we all work together, and getting the message out to everyone else: Reduce, Reuse, Refuse, Recycle, and Rot. The 5 r's is what we are sending out to everyone, and the message we want them to hear, is that we all have our part in the world, and that may simply mean helping in the process to keeping our world in tip-top shape. - Club Contributor: Josie Pearce
