Since I was very young, I had always enjoyed school. Growing up, I would play school at home and get so excited for the school year to start. As I went through middle and high school I always had very close relationships with my teachers. One in particular was Mr. G. Mr. G showed me how history could be fun, exciting, and interesting. Along with educating me, he was also someone I could confide in during a very tough time in my life. Because of him, I became a teacher.
As I was about to enter college, I knew I wanted to teach history and how we came to be, but I always thought I would be a High School teacher. It was not until I went into student teaching that I found out that I enjoyed teaching Middle School! I know it can be an awkward time for most kids, but Middle School is where they make so many happy childhood memories that will last forever!
Before I graduated college, I found a place in the Lincoln family. They welcomed me with open arms even though I was so new to the profession. This school reminds me of the middle school I went to as a child and truly makes me feel like I am part of this giant family! I love how the school is so involved in the community and how much on an impact that we make on the youth of the northside!
As an educator, I strive to form strong relationships with my students. I grew up in a family where they would say "It takes a village to raise a child", and I whole heatedly agree with that in adulthood. I am part of your village! I want to help your students grow into well-rounded, responsible human beings who will soon be leaders of our own community, and that starts with respecting, coaching, and building relationships with the youth of our community. Coming from a community close to this one, I understand northside pride and strive to help every student I cross paths with to accomplish their goals because they CAN do it!
I am so excited to be your students teacher this year and I cannot wait to learn from them just as much as they will learn from me!
