5th Grade Religion

Fifth grade is an awesome year in Religion class!

There are both lots of learning and lots of fun to be had in 5th grade Religion! We will have a greater understanding and appreciation for the Holy Spirit, Our Lord, His sacraments and God the Father over the course of this year. We will also dive deeply into the Mass.

What Will We Study This Year?

*Sacraments

*What does it mean to praise God?

*How do we worship God?

*What does it mean to serve God and others?

*Universal Call to Holiness

*What does it mean to love God and others?

*How should we show our love?

*What are the parts of the Mass, and why is this important?

Additional Supplies

5th grade students may use pencil in Religion class for the first half of the year. Beginning in January, when we return from Christmas Break, 5th graders will begin using only navy blue or black ink in Religion class. They will need to have white-out tape to cover ink mistakes. Students may use colored ink, pencil or colored pencil to write notes in their comp book. They will use map pencils, crayons or (sometimes) markers for classwork and homework. Students should have one Religion-dedicated comp book for Religion class.

Recurring Assignment

Students will do one Saint Organizer assignment per month. The first of these assignments will be done in class with me and they will do the rest at home. Information about this recurring assignment and the due date schedule may be found on Google Classroom by September.

Folders

All 4th-5th grade students should have a Religion-dedicated folder for Religion class. Students should save all Religion-related papers, corrected assignments and handouts. Every scrap of paper is worth points at the end of the quarter.

Requirements

Mrs. Belcher has only one rule in class: don't talk while Mrs. Belcher is talking. Mrs. Belcher expects common courtesy and respect to be shown by everyone in class. The Golden Rule will be encouraged and modeled for a happy, holy classroom.

Homework will be posted on Google classroom.
