Mission Statement

The purpose of a garden club is to connect SRS students to gardening.

The SRS Garden Club will give students the opportunity to learn about various aspects of gardening from; soil health and preparation, planning & planting, growing & harvesting, growing seasons, and composting.. In addition to encouraging students to participate in gardening activities, the club plans to host various school community fundraisers to help make it self-sustaining. The club also plans on covering standards-based nutrition to help them make wise food decisions, and environmental impacts of growing your own food locally and reducing waste. The SRS Club would like to look into field trips to local farms, local farm-to-table chef cooking demonstrations, as well as waste reduction, gardening, and cooking educational opportunities for the SRS community.

A special THANK YOU to St. Raphael Home & School for awarding the Garden Club a grant to help jump-start this program.
