Rules
First grade is a year of increased independence and responsibilities.
First graders will follow the basic rules of:
1. We listen to the teachers and each other.
2. We are kind to each other.
3. We play safely.
4. We help keep our classroom clean.
We also follow the “I-Care” Rules of being a peacemaker.
•We listen to each other.
•Hands are for helping not hurting.
•We use I-Care language.
•We care about each others feelings.
•We are responsible for what we say and do.
Some other responsibilities include name on all papers, appropriate behavior, coming prepared
for school(supplies, homework), working quietly, & listening during directions.
Behavior Chart
We use a “Traffic Light” positive behavior support system to help the children monitor their own day to day behavior choices.
Off The Chart-Students that have gone above and beyond will move their clip off the chart. The teacher will wear the clip around and add some bling!
Blue-The students may move up to blue for being on the right track for success, show excellent effort following our school and classroom rules, and being an excellent example to their peers.
Green-Everyone starts in green each day ready to learn.
Yellow-If repeated reminders are given for disregarding classroom rules, the child will move his or her clip to yellow and think about how to change their behavior and move on up again!
Red-When a child continues to struggle with proper choices, he or she will move their clip to red. An appropriate consequence will be given.
We do keep record of where each child ends the day to help determine the end of the quarter conduct grade.
