My Dear Parents,
As this school year comes to an end, I am most grateful to have spent my school days with your children. I wanted to tell you personally that I am retiring. Saint Matthew School has been my home for the last 24 blessed years. I have been lucky to spread the word of God with so many little children. I loved teaching and sharing life with so many students. I have learned so much from them as well. I thank you for all your support throughout this year and your dedication to Catholic education.
REQUIRED SUMMER READING FOR FOURTH GRADE CORRECTION
Your child is required to read two books this summer in preparation for fourth grade. BECAUSE OF WINN-DIXIE by Kate DiCamillo, and George Washington's Spy by Elvira Woodruff. I will be supplying your child with BECAUSE OF WINN DIXIE this week. Your child should read these books during the summer months.

SUPPLIES
Students need to come to school with needed supplies: sharpened pencils, glue sticks, liquid glue, markers, crayons, scissors, etc. I feel it is unfair for students who come prepared everyday to continually share their supplies. Students who are unprepared will have two options. I have purchased extra supplies. As students need these supplies, I will charge a rental fee of $.25 per use, per item. I feel this will help students learn responsibility. The second option for unprepared students will be to complete whatever activity they were unprepared for at home as part of their homework, and return it to school the next day. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
JUST SOME OTHER REMINDERS:
Each child also must bring a towel or placemat for recess and lunch daily.
Please send in absence notes as soon as possible.
Please remember, all families should practice a home fire drill. Also, if
you need a smoke detector, you can get some free from the fire department
by calling 215/686-1176. Children can visit pfdkidzone.com.
PLEASE DO NOT SEND BIRTHDAY PARTY INVITATIONS TO SCHOOL
It is Third Grade policy that Birthday party invitations are not handed
out at school. This includes not handing them out at recess and lunch.
Please do not send in invitations with your child. We appreciate your
support of this policy.
