As a boy, John (a.k.a. Don) Bosco went to circuses, fairs & carnivals, practiced the tricks that he saw magicians perform, and put on one-boy shows for other kids. Afterward, he would repeat the homily he had heard earlier that day. He became a teacher, working constantly with young people, finding places where they could meet, play, and pray. Bosco loved children and met them in their places of entertainment in order to bring them into contact with God’s love.
