Dear Families,
We are thrilled to have you as part of the Sage community. As families, you may be feeling mixed emotions, excited for the adventures to come for your students, while perhaps a bit anxious about seeing them transition to this next important step. To help you gain a better sense of the offices and resources available to support students at Sage, we have created the RSC Family Handbook.
The Student Success office keeps busy all year to help students feel welcome within and outside the classroom at Sage. A major part of that is making sure that our orientation programs provide students and families with the information and connections they need to start the semester off on the right foot. We are currently busily preparing for our upcoming new student orientation sessions which is comprised of engaged staff from all across our two campuses in areas like: academic advising, athletics, student activities, residence life, financial aid, student wellness, deans' offices, diversity, equity, and inclusion, enrollment management, and student success!
At Sage, we know it takes more than just a day for students to get orientation to campus and transition to life as a college student. That is why we have set up our program in digestible pieces that students can access throughout the summer and through their first semester at Sage. RSC Orientation includes 3 key components:
READY. Half-Day Summer Orientation Sessions to help you get ready to start your journey.
Orientation Program just prior to the start of classes to get you set for success
SET. Resident Students Move In on August 21
All New Students Participate in Orientation Programs on August 22
GO! Ongoing support while you are at Sage, including RSC 101, a one-semester course for first year students, to help you go for your goals!
All of us at RSC want students to be successful as they continue their educational journey. Our orientation program and activities have been planned with their success in mind.
One of the benefits of being a part of a close-knit campus, like Russell Sage, is that all members of our community across two campuses-- be they graduating students or prospective students, resident students or commuters-- can be assured that there are ample people, programs, services, and events that are available to provide all with the support they need to accomplish their goals. The student success team is here to remind students that they are not alone and there are people who believe in them. In addition, the deans of students' office sends out a Family Newsletter to those who share their email address at least once each semester. Family members and guardians can click HERE to sign up to receive these or email deanofstudents@sage.edu with any questions.
As always, please do not hesitate to contact the Student Success Office with any questions or concerns at studentsuccess@sage.edu You can also reach us directly by email at the addresses listed below.
