This course encourages students who love PE to engage with key issues and themes relating to contemporary global influences on physical education and sport. Students will use a multitude of skills to develop a holistic understanding of physical education. You will develop a theoretical understanding of the factors that underpin physical activity and sport and use this knowledge to improve sports performance. Throughout the course you will have an opportunity to investigate how the physiological and psychological state of a sportsperson can affect performance in both physical activity and sport.
Students will be assessed both theoretically and practically. The theory is assessed in a written exam and your coursework, it equates to 70% of your overall mark. Students will also be assessed as a competitive sports performer. Students will be expected to complete a practical assessment in three activities, they must consist of at least one individual and team sport. The practical assessment provides the remaining 30% of your overall grade.
