Main Evidence 3 - TV Ad (Due Week 16)
Submission formats:
Zipped/Compressed folder containing Pro Tools Session with all associated audio files and a bounced Quicktime of the TVC
Please note that each student needs to submit all of these files.
Session saving procedure:
Open up your pro tools session.
Make sure all your audio regions are present and showing.
Go to File > Save Copy In... >
Tick these boxes: Audio Files and Movie/Video files (If Applicable)
Check your other preferences
Select OK
This will make a whole new copy of your session with all the associated audio and video files (If applicable).
Zip this copy and submit
Deliverables:
Project files (zipped): Pro Tools Session Folder with all associated audio files, .ptx session files, and bounced files.
Formats & Naming Conventions
Please use the following format for your Pro Tools session & final edit bounce: 24bit, 48kHz, Stereo-interleaved
Please follow the specified naming conventions:
Zipped project files folder: Project Code_Project Title_First&LastName_ StudentNo.
e.g. HSP1208.1_Drum Recording_ John Smith_121234
Final edit bounce: Drum Recording Final Edit_First&LastName_StudentNo.

Overview:
Students will be supplied with and existing television commercial. Students will successfully record the VO professionally. Students will then re-create the soundtrack up to final broadcast mix.
Brief:
Analyse in detail the audio components and layers of the existing soundtrack of the TVC.
Re-create the soundtrack using your own intuition and creativity. Do not try and copy the original soundtrack. Make the soundtrack your own. \
Pay particular attention to the sound design, atmospheres, foley, SFX and dialogue/VO.
Make sure you apply the main principles of sound design:

Point of View
Apply the main techniques of sound design:
Creating connectivity with atmospheres
Add more depth by layering
Use swooshes, fly-byes, sweeps and short fills and reverse to enhance transitions
Make use impacts and risers SFX
Make use of the reverse plugin in pro tools
Make use of the following creative plug-ins
Lo-Fi
AIR Vintage Filter
AIR Filter Gate
AIR Talk Box
HPF/LPF/BPF
Students must show that they can use automation of creative plugin parameters on selected transition points
The VO will be the same as the original TVC - make sure you place the VO at exactly the same positions.
If you are a composer, compose and produce the music track. You can produce the music using a different DAW (Ableton, Cubase, Logic etc.) but then you have export a full stereo mix of the music or even better, export audio separate elements of the music track and then import into Pro Tools. If you are not a composer you will choose a suitable piece of music from the production music CD's available in the SAE library.
Ensure the final mix is well balanced and ready for broadcast.
Requirements:
No SAE faculty members can be used as the VO artist - students must find a suitable voice from outside the institute.
Complete any music composition requirements
Complete a final mix with consideration of broadcast standards - use the YouLean Loudness meter and make sure the final mix is sitting at -18 LUFS Integrated loudness.
