About Mrs. Sanborn

Hello!  I'm Mrs. Sanborn! I have been the Extended Learning Opportunities Coordinator at Sacopee Valley High School since 2022!

☀️ I taught English 12 and AP Literature & Composition at SV High School from 2008-2016 and Gifted & Talented at SV Middle School from 2016-2022.

☀️ I am a National Board certified teacher in English Language Arts/early adolescence and a teacher consultant with the Southern Maine Writing Project.

☀️ I am currently the high school's Yellow Tulip Project advisor, Civil Rights Team advisor, and Can We? Project liaison. I have also served in other diverse capacities such as prom advisor, new teacher mentor, and English department chair.

☀️ I live on a ten acre farm in Hiram with my husband and two sons.

☀️ I earned my Doctorate of Education (Ed.D.) with a focus on curriculum & instruction through the University of Louisiana Monroe in 2024.

☀️ I received both my Bachelor of Arts (2001) and Master of Arts in Teaching (2003) degrees at the University of New Hampshire.

☀️ I grew up in Kennebunk, Maine and graduated from Kennebunk High School in 1997.

☀️ From there, I spent three years in education where I taught in special education at KHS, did a full year teaching internship at Noble High School, and taught English 9 and 10 at Windham High School. After that, before coming to Sacopee Valley, I took a four year sabbatical to be home with my first child.

☀️ As you can see from my photos, I love horses and compete in both dressage and three phase eventing.  If I am not at school or spending time with my family, I am probably in the barn or on the back of a horse!
