It’s an Allen County tradition to gather on a Friday night at the local high school football field and cheer on the team. Read Under the Lights expands on this tradition to bring the joy of reading and the collaborative nature of our community together in one evening to celebrate and promote literacy. Read Under the Lights is open to all! Participants can enjoy food trucks, free face painting, bounce houses, a book fair, and readings with several special guests all at Walters Memorial Stadium. In addition to promoting the love of literature, we are looking forward to fellowship and camaraderie between local vendors, our SACS families, and the greater Fort Wayne area community. Tours of Homestead High School will be available to both SACS families and community members throughout the evening. If it rains, activities will be moved into HHS. Please contact Alyssa Braman if you have any questions.
Homestead's Read Under the Lights will take place on September 19th. With food and fun, you won't want to miss this opportunity to bond with friends and family over literature!
Clubs!
We want to take a moment to encourage all Spartans not already involved in an extra or co-curricular activity to find a group to participate in. Joining a high school club is a great way to enhance both academic and personal development. Clubs provide an opportunity to make friends with similar interests, a place to do something you feel good about, and a way to make school something more than just a place to go to class. For students planning on going on to college after graduation, sustained and meaningful club participation, which means joining a club that pairs well with your future plans and then sticking with that club throughout your high school career, is something very beneficial to include in university applications. Club, team, and performance group participation fosters personal growth, social skills, and community involvement, all of which prepare students for any type of future endeavor. Click here to view Homestead’s list of extra and co-curricular activities. If you have an idea for a club that we do not currently offer, please email Assistant Principal Jen Bay (jbay@sacs.k12.in.us) to learn more about starting a new club at Homestead.
Riley Dance Marathon club is hosting a Color Run on Saturday, September 14th at 10 am! The run is being held at the Environmental Center and will follow the same course that DECA used last year. The course is 3 kilometers (1.8 miles), and participants can choose to walk or run. Scan the QR code on the flyer to sign up and select a T-shirt size. $20 covers both your registration and T-shirt cost. All proceeds go to Riley Children's Hospital. We hope to see a large group out to support Riley's Kids.
