Below you will find information on new spring sporting events. Be sure to come out and watch our Spartans in all of our upcoming athletic events.
Colombia City Invite Champions!
One of our newer additions to our spring sports here at Homestead, the Men's Volleyball team, has had a great start to the season. With a record of 19 wins to 2 losses, the team currently ranks 8th in the state and 228th nationally.. Many of last year's JV players moved up to varsity this year, and the team has adjusted seamlessly. They show great promise this season, and we are so excited to watch them play and grow as a team! They will continue to play multiple times a week throughout May, so be sure to make time to come to a match!
Our Varsity Baseball team has hit the ground running this season, with a record of 12 wins and 2 losses so far. The team boasts an impressive roster of talented players. As a catcher, Johnnie Ankenbruck ranks first in the state for fielding percentage. Luke Neiswonger is currently leading the team in home runs, with a total of three. He also leads the team in batters struck out, having 37 strikeouts this season, ranking 9th in the state. Homestead's Varsity team were regional champions last year; we are excited to see if they can top that title this season!

The softball team has also started off strong with an 8-3 win/loss record. Junior Taylor Sanders leads the team in home runs, with 3 in total this season. She also leads the team in triples. Junior Maddy Rogers is another standout player this season, leading the team in hits, runs, doubles, in addition to boasting the highest slugging percentage. The team has managed to strike out a total of 65 batters this season. They ended the month of April on a high note, with a victory against Tippecanoe Valley. We are so proud of these girls and look forward to the rest of their season!
Our track teams are working hard this season! In their three-way competition against Bishop Dwenger and Wayne on April 16th, both JV and Varsity teams for both the Boys and Girls teams achieved first place status! Later that same week, in the Marion Relays, our Girls team earned another 1st place, and the Boys placed 3rd out of 9 teams. The Girls team continued their winning streak the following week with a victory at Noblesville, again placing 1st out of 7 teams. Our track teams show great potential this season, and they plan to work hard to keep up the good work!
Homestead's Unified Sports programs offer unique opportunities for our students with special needs to compete in sports along with their peers. Our Unified Track team is doing great this season! During the North Side relays, our girls team came in 2nd of 6 teams, and our boys earned a 4th place out of 8 teams. They have been crushing it and are having so much fun while doing so! Be sure to come out and support them as their season carries on next month!
Our girls tennis team is having a great season so far! During the week of April 21st, both the JV and Varsity won against Norwell and Bishop Luers. At their separate invitationals that Saturday, each team placed 5th. They will continue to play throughout May. On Saturday, May 3rd, they will be hosting an invitational at our own Jimmy Clark Tennis Complex. This is a great opportunity to show up for our girls and cheer them on!

The boys golf team is in action this season, and their performance has been impressive. In their opening weekend on April 19th, they placed 1st of 8 teams in the tournament at Northrop. They continued their winning streak with victories over Concordia and Warsaw, and again won the Lake Central Invitational, with Landon Snyder and Ryan Parker tying for 2nd place overall with a score of 73! May 22nd, 23rd, and 24th, they will participate in the Big Blue Cup, a three-day series against Homestead's longtime rivals, the Carroll Chargers. The Homestead golf team has won this event the last couple years, and we have faith that they will maintain this title again this year!
