National merit semi-finalists

This year, 1.3 million juniors nationwide were considered for the 2024 National Merit Scholarship Program from exemplary PSAT & NMSQT scores. Despite that incredibly large number, these seniors make up less than 1% of their class in the country. These Spartans are being considered for status as National Merit Finalists, which are announced in February. These outstanding students from Homestead are:

Economic Development summit

On Wednesday, September 13, Homestead's student government was invited to a discussion about Fort Wayne's economy. This summit was initiated by the Greater Fort Wayne (GFW) Inc. which has helped encourage and produce many projects in our city. They helped the construction of Promenade Park, Electric Works, The Landing, The Riverfront, and many more to come. GFW Inc. wants to grow Fort Wayne's economy to be nationally recognized by supporting local businesses, attracting new ones, and improving the quality of life.

GFW Inc. is trying to meet its goal through the Allen County Together(ACT) plan. The ACT plan will attempt to increase growth, innovation, and inclusivity, to continuously allow Fort Wayne to thrive at its full potential.

Spartan students (pictured left to right) Emily Erb, Jacob Cohen, Mike Obioma, and Bryce Garrett got to go to a special convention with 400 business leaders about the 10-year plan for ACT.

interact club at "Clean the drains"

Members of Homestead's Interact Club cleaned 50 storm drains in downtown as a part of the Clean the Drains event. One member of this club is also a member of the Rotary who reached out for others to participate in the event. The students cleaned drains with brushes to remove leaves, trash, and other debris. Afterwards, a plaque was put up to show that the drain was clean as a part of the effort.

Red for riley fundraiser

At the home football game for Homestead vs. Snider, the student body organized a fundraiser to raise money for the Red for Riley Foundation. In this effort, the student section, sporting all red shirts, was able to raise $11,197.21! If that wasn't fantastic enough, Homestead's football team won against the undefeated Snider Panthers. Overall, it was an amazing night for every Spartan.
