Multi Sport Athletes

Homestead has a multitude of fine arts and sports opportunities that students can take part in, and it's impossible to be a part of it all. However, many students figure out their schedules to account for multiple sports or activities after school. Some of those students have shared both the benefits and struggles of being on multiple teams.

Elena Knecht

Elena is a senior in track and soccer. She has been playing soccer since she was 5 and began track her freshman year. She believes being in multiple sports is a great way to keep in shape when out of season, but she admits that doing multiple sports is a lot of work while also handling schoolwork. Elena only recommends doing so for those with the time and willingness to work hard.

Maddy Rodgers

Maddy is sophomore in cross country, basketball, and softball. She has been playing both basketball and softball since she was 4 and started track in middle school. She believes playing multiple sports is good for your body because you strengthen different muscle groups and you are less likely to overwork certain parts of your body. Also, being a part of different friend group is a benefit. Maddy recommends playing multiple sports because she feels it has improved her life in many aspects.

Allie Heine

Allie Heine is a sophomore who plays soccer, swims, and runs track. She started soccer and swimming around the age of 4 and began track her freshman year of high school as a way to spend more time with her friends who participated in the sport. Allie says she has gained “time management skills that will help in college and life in general." She has enjoyed the ability to meet many different people in different environment and learned how to put forth full effort at all times against tough degrees of difficulty. She also believes that doing multiple sports has helped shape the person she is today.

Nesha Grimes

Nesha is a freshman in color guard, show choir, and track. She does track when it comes around in February, but she started Show Choir and Color Guard at the end of her 8th grade year. Being in multiple sports helps her absorb a lot of technique and has helped her find what she personally enjoys. She tries her best to juggle both homework and activities by not over-stressing herself and doing as much work inside of school. She recommends only doing multiple sports that you are the most comfortable with and staying committed to them.

Aubrey ratti

Aubrey is a sophomore in gymnastics, cheer, and Unified Track. She started gymnastics when she was ten years old and went into cheer in 8th grade because of all the great things she heard from her friends. In freshman year, she joined the Unified Track team when another friend gave the sport wonderful praise. Aubrey feel being a part of both gymnastics and cheerleading has helped her hone her skills while Unified Track has helped her build her endurance.

Alex mcdonald

Alex is a sophomore in baseball and cross country. He started both sports early as a child, starting baseball around 4-5 years old and running around 6-7 years old. Alex believes that playing both sports makes him a "more balanced athlete," and he always makes sure he put effort and time into both of his sports. Alex would recommend doing multiple sports because you can expand your skills, make different friends, and limit burnout with the variety of activities.

Lola Graf

Lola Graf is a senior who is in Unified Flag Football, Champions Together Basketball, and girls track and field. She first got into track because it was one of the only sports 6th graders could participate in. She joined Unified Flag Football and Champions Together Basketball because she wanted to spend more time with her cousin who is on the team! Lola believes that being in sports has helped her performance in school, and she also loves meeting many different groups of people.

JOSH rODGERS

Josh Rodgers is a junior who participates in basketball, cross country, and track. His dad inspired him to get into sports and he has been playing ever since.
