Horse Show Success

Macy Peters (11) just returned home from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma for her National & World Horse Show. During her show in mid-October, Macy was named World Champion in her Park Saddle division and a Reserve National Champion. These massive accomplishments make Macy a 3-time World Champion in just three years of competing! She has also received National Champion and Reserve National Champion honors in her past years of competing as well, making her a very well-decorated competitor. Homestead is proud to recognize Macy’s rare accomplishments in her return home and offers her the best of luck as she continues to compete!

We the People - Homestead Awarded First Place at Regional Competition - Qualifying Our Team for State!

Students participating in the We the People program take an AP Government course that concentrates on the history and principles of American constitutional democracy. Students research the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and study cases from the past and present to understand the relevance of these documents in their lives. The course culminates in simulated hearings that allow students to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of constitutional principles. Students prepare statements to summarize their research and then are asked questions by a panel that includes attorneys, judges, government leaders and collegiate constitutional scholars. The students’ responses are evaluated, feedback is provided, and performances are ranked in this prestigious academic competition.

Latinos Count Day

A group of HHS Spartans recently met with Hispanic leaders from our community. They attended panel discussions where these mentors shared stories of their career paths after high school and discussed what to consider when choosing where to get the education and training needed to meet a variety of post-secondary goals.

HHS FACS Students Celebrate Ms. Dely's MAC Grant

Family and Consumer Science Teacher, Tanya Dely, has been selected as a recipient of the 2022 McDonald’s MAC Grant Award. Ms. Dely was awarded $500.00 to purchase a hydroponic gardening system to grow herbs, tomatoes, and strawberries indoors. Students in her culinary and nutrition courses will learn how to maintain the system and care for these plants. From these experiences, students will learn about the benefits of using home-grown items in meal preparation, and how they can take advantage of that opportunity, even if they do not have the space and time required for planting and harvesting from a traditional garden.
