Wall of Distinction

Attention Students!

The Wall of Fame is a new development at Homestead that aims to highlight the accomplishments of the student body in the classroom and beyond the school walls. We want YOU to let us know about all the awesome things you do both in and outside of school! It could be doing a cool research project, serving the community in a unique way, being involved in an arts performance, and so much more! Click the link below to let us know about the awesome ways you are showcasing your talents, and you could be featured here in our monthly newsletter and in our new "Wall of Fame" by the 500's hallways!

Presidential Scholar Program Nominees

What is the U.S. Presidential Scholar Program?

This program recognizes students for their hard work in school and considers their experience and work outside of school as well. The program has been recognizing high school seniors dating back to when it was established in 1964 and has evolved to recognize even more students including the ones with accomplishments in the visual arts. In 2015, the program was extended to recognize even more students by including those in career and technical education fields. Click here for more information about the program and past senior nominees.

Every year, the U.S. Presidential Scholar Program recognizes high school seniors across the country. The program considers the work ethic, extracurriculars, work experience, volunteer work, and course rigor to select hard-working seniors to be included in the program. The three senior nominees this year from Homestead are Nada Dahouk, Jackson Davis, and Madeline Phuong (left to right as shown in the image). Congratulations to these three students, and we recognize you for your hard work!

Pave the Path

A group of Spartans recently attended the Pave the Path Summit Leadership Program which was an opportunity for students to examine their own personal brand and connect that to their leadership and entrepreneurial skills, paving a future path in their community. Good work, Spartans!

Snickle & Fritz

Have you ever dreamt of owning your own business one day? Sophomore Isabel Medina is making her dreams a reality by running her candy and toy shop, Snickle & Fritz. What started out as a candy cart she would bring to events for her mom's boutique, Isabel has been able to grow into her own business in Roanoke. Isabel and her sister run the shop next to their mom's boutique during the week, which has provided them with great work experience and exceptional opportunities! When she's not tagging and labeling inventory, Isabel can be found traveling to out-of-state events in Chicago or Springfield to enhance her organization and interpersonal skills. Her story is so inspiring for young entrepreneurs and future business owners!

If you would like to visit, Snickle & Fritz is located at 126 North Main Street in Roanoke. They are open Wednesdays - Fridays from 11-5 and Saturdays from 11-4.

HHS National Honor Society Induction Ceremony

On November 16th, Homestead's chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS) held their annual Induction Ceremony. NHS is a national organization that has recognized outstanding student achievement for over 100 years. With a focus on empowering, championing, and recognizing well-rounded students, the society supports one million of the best and brightest students from around the world.

National Honor Society chapters are student-run organizations that are charged with providing valuable service activities to their school and community. Members of the Homestead group serve as tutors for their fellow students during and after school, providing academic support to those who need assistance with their studies.

Congratulations goes out to our 150 new members. These Spartans were selected for membership in this prestigious organization for their scholarship, character, citizenship, and service to the community.

Special thanks to the chapter officers and sponsor Dr. Emily Ford for planning and hosting this wonderful evening.

Congratulations to our new 2023 NHS inductees.

Homestead's School Resource Officers (and Loki!)

I am sure that you have seen the friendly officers in uniform around the school one way or another, whether you have seen our school K9, Loki, or one of our three officers, Bill Roberson, Chris Kramer, or Roderick Kirkland. Although these officers are familiar faces in our hallways at Homestead High School, it is important to recognize their contributions to our school and even within our district. These three officers keep the Southwest Allen Country school district a safe learning environment. They protect SACS students and staff by enforcing the law and investigating potential violations of the law so students and staff can focus on the most important thing: learning. Our SROs also establish relationships with students and staff at Homestead High School and take part in the educational atmosphere to create a safe space for all students and staff. The next time you see a fellow officer in the hallway, thank them for everything that they do for Homestead and the SACS district, and be sure to say hello to our fellow K9, Loki as well!
