Extracurriccular activities at Homestead aim to get students involved and to provide opportunities for every student to pursue their passions. Homestead offers approximately 100 clubs that cater to various ideas and interests, fueling the diversity of the community and preparing students for the next steps in their journey both on and off campus. Spartan Alliance Band Takes 6th at State Finals

Congratulations to the Spartan Alliance Band for placing 6th at the State Finals! The Spartans competed at the state competition held every November at Lucas Oil Stadium. The competition features many marching bands from around the state and gives each school the opportunity to play in a world-class NFL facility. The band also had an amazing performance at the Bands of America Grand Nationals (BOA) in late November, making it to the semifinal round. Homestead is honored to continue the tradition of excellence that is carried on by the Spartan Alliance Band! Congratulations!

Interact Club presents their donation to the Big Brothers Big Sisters staff

Interact Club Makes a Difference

Thanks to the generosity of the amazing students and staff of Homestead, Interact Club was able to donate $556.87 to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Indiana! Interact Club raised these funds during the home football games this season with a face painting booth. The Big Brothers Big Sisters staff came to Homestead and were presented with the donation on November 9. The students look forward to continuing the face-painting fun as basketball season starts up. Look for Interact Club at select home basketball games this season!

FCCLA Fall Conference

Homestead Senior Leo Walker, a vice president on Indiana's FCCLA Executive Council, recently represented the state at the National FCCLA Fall Conference in Columbus, Ohio! FCCLA is a nationwide coalition of Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America. Homestead's chapter is run by the Family Consumer Sciences department and is proud to represent Indiana nationwide.

Scholastic Art and Writing Competition

Attention artists and writers: it's that time of year! If you weren't aware, the Scholastic Art and Writing Competition is just around the corner. This competition is a chance for young, creative students to gain exposure and receive opportunities to be awarded scholarships for college! The Scholastic Art and Writing Competition recognizes students across the region who have a passion for creativity, giving them a space to share their ideas and creations. Students are selected each year for their work to be recognized in an exhibit at the Fort Wayne Museum of Art. If a student advances in the competition to earn a gold key for a piece, his or her work is judged alongside the works of other high school students nationwide. The submission deadline for this opportunity is December 20th, so you don't want to miss out! Whether submitting a novel or a painting, there is a category fit for you! South Pacific Travel Opportunity: Summer 2024

Unavailable in the summer of 2023 but still want to travel? There is a travel opportunity in the summer of 2024! During this trip, students have the opportunity to travel and explore the South Pacific, which includes New Zealand, Australia, and Fiji over the course of 12 days.

Academic Support and Tutoring

  • Classroom Teacher Support: Communicate with your teacher(s)! Ask for help! Every teacher will be willing to work with you! Students should make every effort to work with specific teachers before or after school.

  • National Honor Society (NHS): Free Tutoring in all subjects from our Junior and Senior National Honor Society students is available. Email your counselor to start the process of being matched with an NHS tutor.

  • World Language Tutoring: See your world language teacher for a contact list of peer tutors in all languages! Additionally, click HERE for a schedule for when Spanish teachers are available to tutor students.

  • Peer/Student Math tutors: See your math teacher for a list of student tutors and contact information. Don't forget about the Math Resource Room available during your Study Hall period.

  • Ask Rose: Ask Rose is a free math and science tutoring service for Indiana and other students in grades 6-12. Tutors are Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology students who major in math, science or engineering—which means they’re more than equipped to help with just about any math or science homework problem.
