Wall of Distinction

Attention Students!

The Wall of Fame is a new development at Homestead that aims to highlight the accomplishments of the student body in the classroom and beyond the school walls. We want YOU to let us know about all the awesome things you do both in and outside of school! It could be doing a cool research project, serving the community in a unique way, being involved in an arts performance, and so much more! Click the link below to let us know about the awesome ways you are showcasing your talents, and you could be featured here in our monthly newsletter and in our new "Wall of Distinction" poster wall near the 500's hallways!

Ian fraser's Course description Guide Cover

Every year, students in Mr. Manco's Advanced Art - Dual Credit VISC 102 course apply their creativity to produce a variety of products that utilize the graphic design techniques they are learning in class. These students have opportunities to use their graphic design skills for the betterment of Homestead.  Students design items such as the graduation ceremony program, motivational signs used throughout the building, and the HHS Course Description Guide cover.

This year, students selected Senior Ian Fraser's design as the winner for the 2024-2025 Course Description Guide Cover competition.

This guide will be used by more than 2,500 students as they select their Homestead courses for next year.

Students who voted for Ian's design said that they liked the graphics, the use of the ombre color scheme, and the cover's clean, modern look.

Congratulations, Ian, on this accomplishment!

Andy Grubbs &
Aleena Freedman: Homestead's Taekwondo Masters

Since Elementary school, two Spartan seniors have been taking Taekwondo classes. With time, Aleena Freedmen and Andy Grubbs have grown in their skills and earned their first degree black belts. Currently, they both work as paid instructors at Coventry Taekwondo to teach other aspiring kids the art of this martial art. They teach all ages and belt ranks.

Aleena first learned about Taekwondo by watching her sister practice. In fifth grade, Aleena decided she wanted to join, too. Taekwondo has helped her make many friends over the years, and she is currently working towards earning her 3rd degree black belt.

Andy had some experience in elementary school, but took a 5 year break and started again in 6th grade. He started working as a paid instructor in May of last year, and he is glad how fulfilling he has found it. Andy wishes that his students find “success in and outside of Taekwondo and that they have grown in their confidence and discipline in life” before he leaves for college.

Reese Hoffer on Track to Earn 12 Varsity Letters

Reese Hoffer is a senior in unified flag-football, unified track, and gymnastics. She has been competing in gymnastics since she was four years old, and she has always dreamed of doing high school gymnastics. Reese also thought the unified sports programs would be a great way to get involved in her community.

This spring, she will likely receive her 12th letter here at Homestead. To earn 12 varsity letters, an athlete must be in 3 sports for 4 years, and be on varsity for each season, all while remaining in good academic standing. This is truly remarkable! Reese has a heart for students with special needs, and recommends that anyone thinking of joining a high school sport should try it out! You never know where it will lead you.

The prestigious Indiana all-state jazz bands

Every year, some of the students in the Homestead Jazz Band audition for the honor of being a part of the Indiana All-State Jazz Bands. Students audition by sending in a recording based on IJEA audition requirements. There is a panel of professional jazz educators and jazz musicians who select students to be a part of this band. This is one of the highest honors high school jazz musicians can achieve. In 2021, Sai Ramani (12) was the very first musician from Homestead High School to be chosen. This year, Homestead had 3 students selected, including Sai Ramani (12), Anthony Tomaszewski (11), and Luke Thompson (9). Luke is a part of the Junior All-State Band. Sai plays the tenor saxophone, Anthony plays the guitar, and Luke plays the trombone. Congratulations on this high achievement!
