Athletics

It is officially winter sports season! Both the boys and girls basketball teams are underway, as well as boys and girls swim teams, gymnastics, and wrestling. However, we cannot move forward without congratulating competition cheer on placing 5th at the state competition with their best score of the season!

S.A.L.T

Mrs. Teusch, our new Assistant Athletic Director, has brought a new group to Homestead high school. S.A.L.T. stands for the Student Athletic Leadership Team. This group is comprised of student athletes from grades 9 - 12 that exhibit qualities of good academic standing and sportsmanship. The goal is to have more student-athlete involvement for the betterment of Homestead athletics, but to also go out and serve SACS districtwide to give back to the community. Mrs. Teusch says she hopes "S.A.L.T. will be sprinkled to enhance athletics while serving SACS for the betterment of our community." She was inspired to create this after having worked with a Student Athletic Board at Huntington North. She also hopes "this 'servant leadership' focus becomes contagious and affects our community in a positive manner." S.A.L.T. currently has 63 members. If you would like to be a part of this program, look for an email in the spring sent to all athletes through Final Forms.
