There are many travel opportunities here at Homestead, and these students took advantage of the opportunity to visit Iceland and see all it has to offer.

Reaching New Heights

A group of students took a trip to Iceland over the summer in June! The trip had been postponed in 2020 and then in 2021 due to COVID. It seems like it was well worth the wait! The group saw the magnificent terrain that Iceland had to offer; black sand beaches, erupting geysers, giant waterfalls, volcanos, glaciers, and much more. They were able to travel around most of the southern coast of Iceland. They described the experience as a "trip of a lifetime."

Italy Summer Recap

Have you ever wanted to travel through Italy on your summer break? Well, that’s just what a group of Homestead students did this summer. We spent 13 days in beautiful Italy traveling over 1,000 miles to 65 different sites throughout the country. We took 25 students and 15 parents with us on this journey of a lifetime, and we were amazed at all of the culture, art, history, food, and geology we found along the way. We landed in Milan and immediately drove to Verona, a beautiful town in northern Italy. From there we traveled to Venice and visited the island of Murano where they are famous for their glass blowing, then on to Burano, where they are famous for their lace making and colorful homes. We rode on a ferry from island to island and while in Venice we got to ride in a gondola! From Venice, we traveled to Florence to see the dozens of museums, the markets, and the Duomo. Our next stop was Assisi and, on the way, we stopped at Little Trattoria for a demonstration on how to make pasta! It was delicious!! The next stop was Pompei and Mt. Vesuvius which were amazing. We saw the ruins and the ancient streets of Pompei. We then headed to Sorrento and went to a street party with music and dancing all while overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. From Sorrento, we took a ferry to Capri and experienced the ultra-blue waters of the Mediterranean where we spent the afternoon swimming. It was on to Rome for the last day of our amazing trip where we saw the Colosseum, the Pantheon, the Trevi Fountain, and of course the Vatican and the Sistine Chapel. It was truly a trip of a lifetime and something that our students and parents will never forget!
