Virtual Learning Services will be provided only to students quarantined or isolated due to orders from Jefferson County Public Health or to students who are impacted by a school shutdown at the direction of the Superintendent of Schools.
Early Childhood (Pk-2)
Students will participate in virtual-live instruction with their teacher using SeeSaw or Google Classroom. The weekly schedule for students may/will include:
Daily live social-emotional learning lessons
Daily teacher-led live small or whole group sessions
Prerecorded teacher sessions for all students

Daily attendance will be taken.
On a WebEx/GoogleMeet virtual live session day, students are expected to be present and engage.
All students will check email daily (5th-12th grade) for communication from teachers and staff.
All students will check GoogleClassroom/SeeSaw daily for learning activities assigned by teachers.
All students will be expected to participate in the learning activities provided by the teachers.
Know each teachers' student support times to know when extra help is available.
Email teachers with any questions; please allow a response window until the end of the next school day.
Complete and submit assignments by the assigned due date.
Produce and submit high quality original work to teachers.
Check grades in Google Classroom and in SchoolTools to monitor progress.
Complete all assessments to the best of your ability.

Log in on time
Be in a seated position and ready to learn.
Eliminate distractions (phone, toys, television, other people)
Come prepared with the materials you need.
No eating during the virtual class.
Mute audio when not speaking.
Turn on the camera and adjust your screen so that your face is visible. Students must be visible unless there is an extenuating circumstance.
Ask questions for clarification.
Talk one at a time and be an effective listener.
Follow the teacher's procedures for asking questions.
Only post appropriate comments/questions in the chat.
Use respectful language and appropriate behavior at all times.
If there is a connection issue, let the teacher know at the start of class.
Participate in only assigned sessions.
Ensure student can log into SeeSaw, GoogleMeet, GoogleClassroom, or WebEx and other platforms used in the classroom.
Complete a weekly check of Google Classroom with student to ensure they are on track and completing assignments.
Regularly monitor student grades by logging into GoogleClassroom and School Tools Parent Portal to check progress and grades.
Identify a space for your student to complete virtual learning work.
Make sure your student is following his/her schedule. Help student establish regular daily routines.
Remind students how to communicate effectively with teachers.
Ensure student checks their school email daily (Grades 5-12th)
Encourage student to work independently. Do not feel the need to correct all errors. Encourage the learning process to take place.
Ensure that students use the provided technology appropriately and for academic purposes only.
Reach out to student's teachers with any questions or concerns regarding your student's progress.
Required to use SeeSaw, Google Classroom, and WebEx or GoogleMeet as the virtual learning platforms for their classes.
Required to connect live with students each day of the school week to check in and take attendance. After taking attendance and getting the whole class organized, a teacher may decide to work with the whole class or with smaller groups on an alternating basis. Teachers must submit their virtual learning plan to an administrator for approval.
Create engaging activities for students posted on their platform which are aligned to the NYS curriculum including scope and sequence to drive instruction and focus on the standards of learning.
Collaborate weekly with colleagues to ensure an equitable student experience in learning, alignment of pacing, content, and assessment.
Create their own videos, use videos created by their content area or grade level teams, or upload videos already created by a reputable source. Teachers should view the video prior to posting if they did not create and ensure copyright.
Ensure that students are aware of your support times. Teachers will be available for students' questions, reteaching, or other support at a time of their choosing during the week. Teachers should schedule meetings by appointment, if possible.
Respond to parent and student emails within 24 hours during school days.
At the beginning of each week, teachers will provide a calendar of required login times as well as learning expectations.

Collaborate with the special education team and/or related service providers on a regular basis, as applicable.
Develop a virtual learning plan for each student with the IEP team.
Schedule and facilitate IEP and 504 meetings.
Meet all required timelines for initial evaluations, re-evaluations and annual reviews.
Focus on key IEP goals and services and how students can access the curriculum in a virtual environment.
Progress monitor student goals per the virtual learning plan.
Collaborate and co-teach with their general education counterparts via shared virtual platform (if applicable)
Provide individual or small group instruction via pre-recorded or live sessions for pull-out services.
Provide IEP accommodations and modifications to assignments, activities, and assessments to the extent possible within a virtual learning setting.
Communicate the IEP or 504 plan with all teachers who provide instruction to the student.
Assist teachers in determining how accommodations can be provided within a virtual learning format.
The special education teacher should notify parents regarding any change in student services as a result of the transition to the virtual environment.
Work with building administration and teachers to connect with families to ensure student engagement during virtual learning.
Hold individual and group counseling meetings.
Support students with college applications and scholarships.
Monitor college and career readiness.
Schedule and conduct regular graduation requirement checks.
Participate in student support/problem solving team meetings.
Support student crisis or student check-ins through teacher, student, parent, staff recommendation.
Facilitate the SEL team and process.
Administer the Sources of Strength Program and help to support Positivity Project.
Communicate to the school community about how his services can be accessed during the virtual learning model.
Check email daily and return emails within 24-48 hours during the school days.
Communicate with staff and parents regularly.
Support teachers who may need extra help with online delivery and planning.
Provide training and support to teachers on an ongoing basis.
Monitor the quality and consistency of virtual learning activities.
Monitor the reporting of student health or safety concerns, threats, or inappropriate behaviors, including the risk of harm.
Monitor student attendance.
Monitor at-risk students' health/mental health, educational progress, or other needs.
All students will be assigned a Chromebook at the beginning of the year.
These Chromebook will be sent home on a daily basis with students so they are ready to transition to virtual learning immediately if the need to do so should arise. Students in grades K-5 will have a bag to keep their Chromebook and charger in.
If you do not have reliable, high speed internet service at your residence a hot spot will be provided to any family in need. Hot Spots will only be deployed should the need for virtual learning occur.
There is a section on the Family Connection Website (link on this site's homepage) which provides training documents for parents, teachers, and students.
Technology Coordinator will offer technology support for staff and students. Office hours will be posted.
The District will continue to offer free breakfast and lunches to all families who sign up.
Meals may be delivered by buses or will be available for pick up. More information on this is forthcoming.
