The Sackets Harbor CSD decided to postpone the start of the interscholastic fall sports season but instead organize and administer a fall sports intramural program. Please see the Press Release relating to this decision.
Fall Sports 2 (March 1 - May 1)
Winter Sports (November 30 - ?)
Spring Sports (April 19 - ?)
The Fall Sports Intramural Program will begin on Monday, September 28, 2020.
Intramural participants will develop:
Physical fitness and skills
Mental alertness
Collaboration and communication skills
Leadership skills
Skills to be a good teammate
Problem-solving and decision-making skills
A distance of twelve feet in all directions must be maintained between individuals while participating in activities that require aerobic activity and result in heavy breathing.
When social distancing cannot be maintained, a face covering must be worn. Cloth masks with the Patriots logo have been purchased for all students and employees. Disposable masks will be available for those students or staff who forget their cloth face covering.
Intramural staff will promote frequent and thorough disinfection of hands.
Intramural staff will encourage intramural participants to stay home if they are sick.
Intramural staff will be trained in recognizing signs of illness and will be expected to contact the school nurse or a parent/guardian if they observe a symptomatic participant .
Intramural staff will be encouraged to put participants into small groups (cohorts) that remain together and work through stations, rather than switching or mixing groups more than needed.
Intramural participants will be discouraged from sharing equipment and gear.
Any equipment and gear which needs to be shared will be cleaned and disinfected between use by staff or participants.
Equipment and gear will be cleaned and disinfected after each intramural session.
Intramural participants will be required to remain distanced while not actively engaged in play (e.g., during practice, on the sideline, etc..)
Intramural participants must bring their own water bottles.
Nonessential visitors, spectators, and volunteers will not be permitted unless approved by the superintendent.
Intramural staff will discourage unnecessary physical contact, such as high fives, handshakes, fist bumps, or hugs.
The District will prioritize outdoor, as opposed to indoor, intramural activities as much as possible.
Locker room space will be staggered and cleaned and disinfected between each use.
Participants will be not be permitted to reenter the locker room after the intramural session. They will be released directly to their vehicle
Emphasis will be more on individual skills but intramural staff may incorporate competitive team activities as they deem appropriate.
All participating students will be required to have a physical and/or an updated health history form.
Parents/guardians must submit a weekly health screening on Mondays or the first day of any given school week.
Each intramural participant will have been temperature-checked at school. If not, they will be required to get their temperature taken prior to joining the intramural activity.
Intramural staff will be made aware of those student athletes who may be at higher risk of developing serious disease (e.g., children who may have asthma, diabetes, or other health problems).
