August 2022
Dear Sackets Harbor Central School Community,
We are very much looking forward to a return to a more "normal" school year as we all have emerged from the pandemic experience stronger and more prepared to tackle any challenges that are presented.
If we learned nothing else over the last few years, we have learned that it is best to be prepared for any eventuality. Therefore, we have updated our Reopening Plan in anticipation of the continuing need to manage highly transmissible COVID-19 variants to keep our school community safe and healthy. In August 2022, the CDC released updated guidance which can be accessed here: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/community/schools-childcare/k-12-childcare-guidance.html.
The District will be implementing continued health and safety protocols during the 2022-2023 school year. While we have removed some of the required layers from last year's approach (i.e., universal masking, physical distancing, screening/testing) in accordance with CDC guidance, we will be implementing other effective practices such as promoting vaccination, teaching and reinforcing good handwashing/hygiene practices, mandating that students, staff, and visitors stay home when sick, and regular cleaning/disinfecting of occupied spaces.
I wish you all a healthy and happy school year!
Be well,
Jennifer Gaffney
