Course Description:
The overall goal of Drawing & Painting II is to further build upon the basic drawing and painting skills students learned in Drawing & Painting I, with a new focus on the proportions of the human body and figure drawing. The projects will be very challenging and the expectations of the teachers will be high.
This course will solidly prepare the fine art student’s portfolio for college admissions and is a pre-requisite to Advanced Placement Studio in Art.
A student enrolled in Drawing & Painting II can expect to learn the following within a full school year:
• Illustrating the human body realistically with a focus on gesture, space, proportion and value. • Proper use of these materials: pencil, color pencil, pen, charcoal, water color, and acrylic paint. • Mixing paints and basic color theory.
• Realistic color application and blending.
• Creating realistic values.
• Proper painting supply maintenance and clean up.
• Advanced composition
