Someone mysterious is coming to our classroom. I received an email that our Classroom Elf, Jingles, needs to be ready. Oh Boy!
Reading - In the beginning of the week we will be reviewing finding the theme of the text and then writing a RADDD / SPO to compare common themes found in fictional texts. We will have a challenge to test our knowledge of Literary Elements in Fictional texts. We will be doing a literary analysis of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. I hope my students' noses don't turn red. Through this challenge, students will learn that we are all special in our own unique way. By the end of the week we will starting our new unit, Nonfiction. Here's something to look out for: What does it mean to dip in and dip out? We shall see, keep a look out. Once you make the connection and share it with is a free trip to the Snack Shack.
Also, be ready to practice our acting skills for what we have learned about Drama. We will be using our skills to perhaps share with a Kindergarten class.
Math - We will be completing our Unit 2, Multiplication and Division. Continue to work on your multiplication and division facts. We will be having our unit test next week, along with math extra help.
Social Studies- We are still investigating how geography affected the Plains, Coastal, Desert, and Woodland Indians.
Science -
Writing - We just began learning about SPO's. Single Paragraph Outlines and how they help plan our writing. Students are learning how to take a question and create a topic sentence and a closing sentence. During this time, they are collecting important details to support their topic sentence. Writing a persuasive letter to Santa to hire them for the holiday season.
