Course Description
Chemistry Honors is an in depth survey of the main topics in undergraduate chemistry. During the school year the course will first introduce foundational knowledge, then apply that foundational knowledge in more specific contexts. For instance the second unit introduces a process called Stoichiometry, applies it to general chemical reactions, and then in Unit 5 (Gasses) it is applied specifically to reactions between gasses.
With this in mind, this Headstart program is designed to give an early introduction to this foundational knowledge. This is to give students both an easier time at the beginning of the school year while giving more time to truly master these ideas. In this way when the more specific units are done later in the year students will be able to devote most of their time and effort to understanding the new material, rather than needing to review the older units.
This course will utilize my Chemistry Honors materials from the school year. I have identified what I consider to be the most important foundational topics from the first two units of the course, and I have added specialized reviews designed to support true mastery of these topics.
