Abstract: We will discuss the area and perimeter of some well known geometric figures like triangles, rectangles, polygons, circles, etc. One can ask questions like "If we have a collection of rectangles all of them having the same perimeter p=20 cm (say) then what can we say about the area of these rectangles? Can any such rectangle have area 100 cm²? If yes, then why? If the answer is no, then why not? Can we find a rectangle with perimeter=20 cm having the largest possible area? or with the smallest possible area? Can we prove or disprove our guess work mathematically?" We will be asking similar questions for other shapes like triangles and circles as well. Since March 8th happens to be an International Women's Day. I will also mention the Story of Queen Dido which is closely connected to such geometric questions.
