Mathematical Logic

Dr. R. Ramanujam, Retd. Prof. Institute of Mathematical Sciences, Chennai

Abstract: Reasoning is considered fundamental to all disciplines, especially mathematics; and yet, logic is not a formal part of most curricula. We suggest that learning some mathematical logic may be helpful for almost all of us, illustrating the idea with some puzzles and examples. We also point to the deep connection between logic and computation.

About the Speaker: Prof.Ramanujam is a retired professor of Mathematics at IMSC (Institute of Mathematical Sciences), Chennai. His research interests are mathematical logic, automata theory, security theory and game theory. He also has a special interest in mathematics and science education. He has been awarded the Indira Gandhi prize for the popularization of science in 2020.
